Any other engineers in the forums here? I'm curious to know how many of us enjoy this wonderful game. I'm also wondering if anyone else has been having issues finding jobs in the US engineering sector.

I wish the best of luck to your son. What kind of engineering is he looking into? I chose Mechanical because, at least at Virginia Tech, it basically covered the widest range of topics.

Here!

Jobs for good engineers never seem to be in short supply, but I know everyone has their own experience. It seems to be more about how picky you want to be than whether or not you can find someone willing to hire you.

Yeah. I imagine I've been a little picky. I'm also just not the best interviewer.

I can honestly say that if I had played KSP before going to college, I definitely would have studied Aerospace/Aeronautical engineering rather than Mechanical.

engineering: where the thing you are working on doesn't blow itself up. i dabble in ee here and there but nothing at a professional level. too old and too in debt to go back to school and do it for real.

Im currently in school getting a double in math and applied physics in anticipation of getting a masters in aerospace or mechanical engineering. Ironically im posting this while waiting for diffeq to start. Can you offer any advice for an engineering degree in general?

He wants aerospace or mechanical. He's applied to Texas A&M, Colorado School of Mines, Texas Tech (we're in Texas FYI)

BTW, I'm a HUGE Hokie Fan. Dad (fan as well)grew up in Roanoke and I've got to go to Blacksburg on several occasions.

Deciding whether to become a politician, businessman, or aerospace engineer. My classes right now are a pretty strange combination because of it. Might decide to become an aerospace engineer who dabbles in politics by running for Congress with a good idea about how the economy works. Congressional Aerospace Stockbroker?

I'm graduating from High School next year. Plan is to study Mechanical Engireeging (just because it's a wide field, It will secure me a job, and my local university has a very good reputation for that career), and then go all the way into a PhD in Aerospace. KSP may or may not have influenced that decission. :P

Actually, I'm scared as hell but I don't want to admit it. I feel like, if I was in a game, I just got to a room with many doors but no ability to reload. I could literally go into any career I wanted to. What if I suddently got tired of rockets - we know that won't happen - and decided to become a teacher? A pilot? A psychologist? The list goes on and on. That is both inmensely exciting but really scary too.

I just hope I go through the right door and don't find a huge monster at the other side.
