Tetris to be adapted into a movie.

Link.

I bet it will be a real blockbuster.

Seriously, how can Tetris be adapted into a movie? Mortal Kombat was just bad despite having actual characters, and Battleship managed to make something out of a simple game, but Tetris?

I anxiously await the KSP movie adaptation. Jeb to be played by Chuck Norris.

I just say Tron. However in this case the game came after the movie. But the movie was already 2 times higly profitable. I can imagine a similar story for tetris. Hollywood is often chewing the same bone again and again as long as it brings money.

I've never depicted Jeb as a rightwing, religious fanatic nutter, which Norris is, and which was the reason behind all those jokes about the dude.

Can't say I was aware of that, I was just drawing a comparison of the supposed BadS nature of both. Maybe Vin Diesel would be a better choice.

Ohh, was not aware of that too, just read it on wikipedia, he's an creationist denying the theory of evolution. Ouch.

He's trying to look "tough" and that immediatelly fires up the douchebag alarm.

Jeb is a playful and bold character, a bit loopy and careless. Not a douchebag. It should be a mixture of Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp, Jim Carrey...

I'd rather die than watch four hours of endless blocks falling down. Tetris has a major impact, but as a game, I find it wildly overrated. Doesn't really deserve or make for a good movie, but yet again, Hollywood has less brains (Generally speaking; we do have the smart ones) than a typical 'writer' who doesn't publish anything in their career

I have to disagree, I don't think it's overrated.

Also, the game goes straight against most people's definition of a good game:

Graphics, difficulty, variety, complexity/simplicity, multiplayer, time consuming? For most of people tetris is not any of those, but nearly nobody will say it's not a good game.

It has a very awesome theme song, but the original only has one song which is something people would tag as bad for a game too.

But I agree that a tetris movie doesn't make much sense, it would be something like tron.

The thing about tetris is that you cannot reinvent tetris, it's basic shape is so that if you remove one square it gets too easy, if you add one it gets too hard/confusing.

And last, but not least, it's russian.

Your username, user title, and avatar make me suspect you're not impartial about Tetris.

It depends on your opinion and how you like your games. Tetris has had the biggest impact of every game culturally, but it's just not my cup of tea. But I still occasionally play it; even if you somewhat dislike it in some arenas, it is a game in which you cannot hate. But even if we went the path of Tron, Tetris is not movie material; it's simplicity for the sake of simplicity. If anything, I don't want it to be a movie; even though I am not very much a fan, Tetris still has this sense of wonder that it never loses and a movie is basically going to take that, kill it, then stomp on the remains.

Ok. Lego Movie: Yes

Tetris Move: WHO'S IDEA WAS THIS???!!!???

Meanwhile in Hollywood:

"Wow, the Lego Movie was a really big hit! Now on to the seque- wait! I've got it! We'll make a Tetris movie! It involves multicolored pieces that you put together, too. Close enough, right?"

After they made battleship into a movie (Which I haven't seen, so I can only judge the theoretical stupidity of making that into a movie and not how well it turned out), I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by Tetris.

I can see it now Tom Cruise blowing up giant candy colored Borg cubes as the try to invade Earth.

If he destroys enough of them, he gets a power up that lets him travel back in time if he later gets killed by an evil cube invader.

Just fill the screen with lots of Michael Bay explosions and lasers .....
