OK, that also happened.

That's not what was supposed to happen, though.

Yeah, kerrmu isn't handled right by the program, I fixed it once but then I had to rerun the program to change some colors and forgot to change it.

Also, duodex, that wasn't nearly as devious as I expected. I would've been fine with you doing that without permission. :P it's a permanent description now!

I wonder if there could be a program to spit out who has the most posts... you could start a "OVER 9000" thread on that ;)

Since you can sort the member list by post count as well as rep count, I imagine it'd be pretty trivial to modify magico's program to do a post count extract.

I'm not sure people are as proud of their post count as their rep. But if you guys really want one, me and magico13 could work together to make it. The question is, where would we draw the line? 1000? 2000? There isn't an easy line, like with the light green bars.

Posts would be very easy to count. Anything that's a sort option on the search page would just require a few modifications. I should also come up with a fix for users with special characters in their names, like KerMü, at some point, otherwise that'd be annoying to fix manually each time.

Personally, I think cheating the post count system is too easy. With rep, you have to be given it by other people, but with post counts it's an entirely self controlled process. You could just post something on every thread, which doesn't really add to the discussion. At least rep worthy posts usually have to be good posts that other people find some value in. If you want to see who has the most posts, you can always just search it!

Edit: There are three people with over 9000 posts. Sal_vager, NathanKell, and Red Iron Crown.

One could say the same about rep! That being said I agree that post count just doesn't seem to be as interesting a metric.

I'm a geek when it comes to this kind of statistics though. There's far more interesting metrics to look at. Ratio of rep to post count, ratio of rep to how long a user has been on the forum. Ooooh, and then there's stuff you can plot or make infographics out of. Number of members for various countries. New members per day vs. KSP update release dates.

And don't even get me started on how interesting it would be to have statistics from the game itself. How many people play career vs. science vs. sandbox? How long does a game last on average? What mods do people have installed? What parts are the most/least used? I know a lot of people get kinda freaked out about data collection & privacy (which is a legit concern), but if done correctly (anonymized and aggregated) it can give a developer a lot of useful info on what changes need to be made in their game.

I noticed I don't have a description but these threads might serve as a decent summary of what I'm up to when not chasing space tuna and unfurling the secrets of intergalactic yarn.

That's definitely (at least part of) your new description.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
