Mil Mi-24 Hind Project

Got a suggestion to build the hind, done (will improve on it later on, but it's finished for now) with the first cockpit and i'm already at 120+ parts, making a wild guess that my pc will fry when launching after it's finished...

Colour of the glass will change eventually, i just made it this bright temporarily to more easily differ the 'glass' from the frame around it.

Will post updated pics as i continue building, make sure to subscribe to the thread if you want to know when i update.

Oh boy. I'll follow this.

P.S. I wonder if you'll be able to follow the Hind's asymmetry. The main rotor's axis has like a 3-4 degree tilt and when airborne the whole craft roll a bit left (the pylons are no longer level with each other).

Also, if anyone is wondering why those pwings are sticking out like that totally killing the contoure of the cockpit area of the heli, they're just there as baseplates for now, and I can move them freely without damaging the design as illustrated in the picture below.

Second cockpit pretty much done, minor tweaks needed and some more pwing placement and its completely done (again, might go back to fine tune it later once ive made the rest of the mi-24)

It looks pretty complicated. Given the same effort, I'd probably go build a model Hind and fly it in real life though.

It's not really that complicated, just a bit tedious. I could build this in one full day, but i do other things during the day and i end up playing for only an hour or two per day at most.

angle doesnt do it justice, but both cockpits are done, working on the body and airframe.

asymmetry part is pretty hard, i think it will do. rotor has a slight angle to to it, about 2 degrees (not that visible in the pic).

Finished the main body work, although theres still a million little things i have to add to it or tweak, but progress is going well, making a skeleton for the tail and really trying my best to make it as real as possible..

I just added this picture so you can easily see that the rotor is in fact tilted, not by much though and i might have to tilt it further if it's too little.

Those are pretty much the only mods i've used. I'm also using FAR.

Also: Liftoff.

wheels are only temporary, will probably make retracable ones with hinges, flies surprisingly well and is stable during hover, also, the tilt is present due to the asymmetry and tilted rotor as seen in one of the pictures above.

quick update, adding paint to it, going for a wooden type camo, although the big surfaces leave some pretty big coloured spaces which makes it look weird, i'm going to correct that later on.

Check my other crafts, i've done similar things, but the only craft that even comes close to being as complicated to build as this is my p51-d, the rest were made in under 1 hour.

Nearly there, but still alot of things i have to fix/tweak, such as the exhaust pipes, they're too small and pointing slightly up, when they should be almost twice as big and point straight out.
