Query about North Pole of Duna (possible spoiler)

I had heard that there was a pyramid at the North Pole of Duna and realised in all the time I've been playing KSP (started back when it was just Kerbin and Mun and getting to the Mun was just firing your engines and hoping you were pointing the right direction!) I've never been to the poles of Duna.

So off I went. And oh boy, that wasn't like any pyramid I've ever seen!

Has the terrain generation changed or do people have very different definitions of a pyramid from me? That was recorded in version 0.24.

Yes, the terrain around most of the poles of the Kerbin system is weird because of the way Unity deals with the terrain on spheres. I shudder everytime I remember when I've gone by rover to the North pole of the Mun *sobs uncontrollably*

Ah, okay. That would explain the extreme terrain. Although it is impressive.

The South Pole of Minmus is particularly angry. It flung my rover a considerable distance and then made Jeb explode!

The mountain has been where some time, think I landed rovers on all poles back in 0.21 or something.

And yes my first one hit the mountainside in +200 m/s even with an mechjeb landing.

Spoiler:

Moho north pole has the the mohole, south pole is flat, Eve both north and south has impressive knife edges over the sea.

Kerbin is flat, so is Laythe, Eeoloo, Ike also Vall if not mistaken. Mun is a large badland at poles, Duna has mountain, same with Tylo.

Minmus, Pol, Bop and Gilly don't have any special features, don't think it even have texture distortion, Jool has that, proably the sun too.

And as noted in the thread linked in my sig, intrepid explorer Tre Kerman has stood on both of them, and planted flags to mark the spot(s). FYI, the north polar peak is just shy of 5,500 meters above "sea" level.

its probibly a dune reference. the north polar region was the "habitable" zone because it didnt have any worms and it was sheltered from storms. the book didnt mention anything about pyramids there, but i think there was one in the 80s movie and another in the children of dune miniseries.

My Jeb explored the Mohole. He was never the same after that. All he would say is that it was full of stars.

Vall, at least on one pole an I am pretty sure it applies to both, has a huge mountain. Not flat at all.

I've been on most poles and so far Eve's are my favorite. Google Eve pole panorama, and my nickname. You'll see some nice screenshots.

Minimus south pole got a hole through the terrain.

Been there yesterday.
