Community Mun Base 2.0

Recommended Posts

Sure I\'d like to try again once the base has grown a bit, I want to try to make something interesting using the cart trick for sideways and inverted stock parts.

The site is fine, I forgot to look for Kerbin and I wish there were stock landing lights, so far no one has even made spotlights that point down, so any modders out there, I\'d really like cart style headlights that point downwards and are surface attachable :)

Added to the Flight List.

By the time, we get round to flying again, the Mun Colony will either be getting busy, or we\'ll be considering a Bravo Landing Zone.

PS - Your lander is really complicated looking. :)

Add me for modded and stock.

Already added, your 10th on the list. (First Come, First Served)

is it possible for an unmodded spot pleas :)

Adding you now. 15th on the List, Please be patient.

I\'ll PM you once its your go. But please frequent the thread, to see how things are moving on..

Alright, the modded mun base is open for business!

trbinsc your Mun Colony picture looks epic, with Kerbin in it! 8)

I ran out of fuel about 100 meters up because I had to hover around a bit, but the Ausplane engine is really tough so I survived the landing, and in just the right spot thankfully.

The capsule section has it\'s own fuel and engine in case the craft has to return, all parts are either stock or from the Downunder pack: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=3362.0

I had to drive the cart back up the hill as it scooted off when I was overhead, those things really need a handbrake.

Here I am at Trbinsc\'s Landing :)

@ Apotheosist, if you restart your flight, try popping the engine off and refitting it before you leave the VAB, sometimes this solves a build order bug, however there is a new fuel crossfeed bug in 0.14.3, you might have to mess with your design a bit.

When posting look below the text box for \'Attachments and other options\'

It\'s best to resave the PNG files as JPG so they are smaller, or upload them somewhere else and use the insert image button above the Smiley emotikerbal.

I personally like uploading my pics to imgur.com, its quick and simple, plus they already have the BBCode ready to be copy and pasted on the right for forums (such as this one).

Stock is cooler! 8)

I define a Mun Base, as a collection of usable ships. (Not a junk yard of stranded Kerbals)

I only landed a small craft, to begin with. An will land further craft, once its my turn, of ever increasing size an complexity. However big your ship is, is totally up to you...

Its not a competition, but a community project. ;)

Well then, time to outclass everyone else\'s ships :D

How do i attach persistence file and pics?

Had any luck?

Please just post the persistence file, I can get a picture myself, by running KSP with your persistence file.

Press 'Attachments an other options' below.

Press 'Choose File'

Browse the contents of your hard drive to locate your KSP folder.

Press 'Saves' within KSP Folder

Press 'Other' within Saves Folder

Select 'Persistance.sfs' within Other Folder

Press Post. 8)

I think stock rule #7 is a bit harsh and might even deter some noobs.

I look forward to seeing how this base evolves over time. :)

I disagree, any member is welcome to take multiple flights to get it right. Took me 4 attempts to land successfully, with my lander...

But I was having terrible luck earlier today... Resulting in horrible explosions.

- Beside\'s there guidelines, I won\'t refuse a persistance file, if a player lands with almost no fuel left.

- But I won\'t accept a lander, broken into pieces littering the Landing Zone. (Please take multiple flights, too land successfully)

Well then, time to outclass everyone else\'s ships :D

I look forward to see\'ing your lander.

But please consider, some members may us low powered laptops. Where a colony of 5-10 ships. Each averaging 20-30 Parts, will cause performance issues.

I can easily land 100+ landers, an take off with 500+ Parts with my PC.

People on slower PC\'s may still be able to contribute if they know how to edit a persistence file, it\'s possible to make a copy, edit out all but one ship and then land near it with very little lag, then finally copy the new landed ship onto the end of the original file.

The person would have to check they didn\'t land inside someone else\'s craft though :)
