Quick save and quick load shortcuts

Recommended Posts

The amount of times I've accidentally hit Alt-F4 because my finger slipped.

From a UX perspective, the difference between a typo in intention should not be "you get exactly what you want or you get catastrophic failure".

Please, for the love of kerbin, change the quick save short cut to Ctrl-S

Ok then that's fair enough, however I don't think that changing the key binding to ALT S is a good idea. If possible make it customizable, if not change it to F6 instead, still close to the old one and not near anyother keys that might screw things up.

I get nervous every time I do a named quicksave and press the button extremely carefully.

It's like they've put a two buttons next to each other, one to turn on the windshield wipers, and the other to self-destruct.

I just learned that if ur on a laptop...One must hold the function key whilst pressing F5 to save. You'll see the message. Then press the function key whilst holding F9! It'll reload your game. To clarify, I never had this problem playing from my desktop computer. It only happened after I started playing on my word issued laptop. Use the "Fn" key NOT ctrl or shift or alt. I know. ..it's lame. But it works for me.

Now I can play ksp at work!!!

That can depend on how the laptop is built. Some will use the top row for F1-F10 by default, and you use the Fn button to access laptop functions like screen brightness, volume, media playing and others. Of course other laptops want you to use the Fn button to access F1-F10 and the top row will be laptop functions by default.

All a bit confusing!

I'd suggest these function be put in the in-game menu, where most game have the "save game" and "load game" functions.

Pressing one more key doesn't make much of a difference when having to type or select a filename and click 'ok', which already makes it not "quick".
