togfox
So we\'ve all seen this baby on the Mun in v14.3. Those two parallel lines near the equator. It looks like some channel pointing to the big dark crater.Well, I thought the Kerbal Geographic Society should map such a distinguishing feature and here you have it. The topography of the gash. Note that each side of the gash is mostly equal height but the gradient (ie the slope) is far more severe on one side which is the most obvious landmark when in Mun orbit.I think I\'ll map the community Mun base next. togfox
With the help of Corax crxTelemetry and physically exploring the area with a Mun rover.Old school. Like it was done in the old days. I\'m trying to refine and streamline this and when I do I\'ll post instructions. I\'m waiting on some scheduled updates to the crxTelemetry mod. VincentMcConnell
I recommend changing the name of this terrain feature... because there are little kids here, I won\'t say it, but the word 'Gash' is slang term for something a little inappropriate. Gash is, literally, 'a long, deep cut.'
Kryten
If we stop using all the words that someone, somewhere, has used to mean something sexual, we\'ll have about three left.

togfox
I just googled it. It seems to be a UK thing. I\'ll let the forum Mods decide if there is a problem but point noted.
Asmosdeus
When the mun first was released, I always wanted my first mun flight to come down through a canyon. The gash made my day
SteevyT
Hmmm.....does anyone think it would be possible to orbit through the thing?
togfox
Unlikely. Check the heights in my map. Its high for a rover but shallow for a high speed orbiter. The entance/exit is steep too.
Winter Man
Heh. Totally gonna go fly my rocket into the Mun\'s gash (and yeah, it\'s an extraordinarily common term in the UK; frowned upon, but common).

Clams are now simply an unidentified shellfish, Lizards are now to be referred to only as reptiles, muffins are now cupcakelike baked goods, there is no longer a number between 68 and 70, 'it' is to be replaced with 'Thingy' 'Thingy' is banned and to be replace with 'Whatchamacallit'. The fiddle is now to be called Rooftop musical instrument.
rkman
On one of my first flights in .142 i made a low Mun orbit that accidentally passed through the Gash. At some point the orbit actually dipped below the altitude of the surrounding landscape:(just after passing, looking back, pointing retrograde)http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4127/screenshot4re.png
