I sometimes wish that I could live another thousand years, so that I could see the incredible things that we will achieve, and at other times I feel that we will never get much further than we are now until we evolve past the pathetically idiotic, childish fascination with war and weapons that is currently blighting all our hopes for the future.

But never mind me. I am just a Grumpy Old Man who has just downed two strong vodka, mint julep and soda water cocktails.

Very KSP. But, once we get biomes for all plenets. Getting a mod that gives us Airships might be really handy to get away from Eve with all its science.

The holiganlab pack has airships, and yes they work very well on Eve as they lift you out of the thick atmosphere making takeoff not much harder than on Kerbin.

War will always be part of being humans. Just like a world where only love or only hate can't exist, a world were all men live peacefully together is just a utopia. War is part of us, just like peace is.

But progress happens nonetheless, both in war and peace. The only thing that changes is the way we use what we invent or discover. But technology keeps advancing, in one way or another...

War is a manifestation of our desire to grow and expand. Human nature dictates that we will always have an incredible desire to expand our wealth/power. War is just the easiest pathway. Space travel could actually sate our desire to expand and conquer, peacefully.

Without that drive for war the V-2, and thus the Redstone, the R-7, the Saturn V, and just about any rocket that we love today, wouldn't exist.

I fully understand your thinking, but consider this: our longevity is, as it stands, mostly unparalleled the animal kingdom. Few animals live longer than we do. We also live in the golden age of technology, information technology in particular. One person that was alive to see the advent of the airplane and the car could also have witnessed the rise of the computer - a period in which the world transformed more than once. Even though it is nothing on an astronomical scale, a little under a 100 years is a massive amount of time.

Now, some of us have witnessed The World Before The Web, and will live to see the internet and associated technologies go through numerous iterations. We have just barely begun to harness computing power and intelligent networks to do things, but the things we have done are already incredible. We have created a program comprised of bits and bytes that understood the internet is about cats. We can communicate with peers in milliseconds, rather than weeks, creating close-nit communities across the world while being physically apart. We can make our machines do things our human shells could never do and the end is nowhere in sight.

Do not feel sad you will only get to experience a few years. You are in the privileged position to experience more than most creatures ever will, in one of the most exciting times until now, while also knowing how things were without all those new and amazing technologies. We are in one of those times in the history books, where we get to wonder about how it must have been. How did the first humans felt when they learned to speak? How did the first people harnessing bronze and iron experienced that shock? How did the enlightenment whirl through people's minds, altering their thoughts and view on the world? How did electricity amaze people and change their lives forever? We can now know, because we are in one of those times. We are The First Computer People and history will remember us as poor, yet inventive souls that were barely prepared for what hit us. Life is amazing.
