Curious if there's a Kerbal Minimalist mod or something

Hi!

Finally got the whole "docking in orbit" thing down, thanks to watching tutorials on the subject over and over and over.

Now I'm starting to build hideous orbiting monstrosities. However, I know where this leads: This leads to the madness of really low frame rates like 4 frames per second or 4 seconds per frame or something.

Yes, there are graphics options I can turn down, but since I haven't actually hit this issue yet this is more of a "I was wondering and I haven't seen anything in the mods like it" question:

Are there any mods out there or in development that reduces all of the graphics elements to simple geometric shapes? Like cylinders, cones and spheres or is that not even a feasible pipe dream given the way the way the program is set up? Would that even affect the frame rate for really large orbiting structures?

Sorry, if this is a really newbie-modder question. I'm not even a noob-modder, I'm pre-noob.

Okay, I hope I've gotten my stupid question out of my system. I'll start lurking now. xD

  • 4 weeks later...

I replaced all my textures and noticed minimal difference of fps with lower quality textures :/

reverted & tried the welding mod, seemed not to work for some reason (it was made for v.23 & i had loads of mods) + Iwas on .25.

TBH thinking to buy a better graphics card :/ cant think what else would make the game perform so bad with large part counts. :/

and all those mods...
