Staging not responding

KSP Ver.: 0.25.0

- Issue:

Purchase and install yesterday (30/11/14), completely vanilla install of 64 bit. When I'm in career mode (Only played training scenarios and career so far) I cannot operate a craft by using the staging bind. The staging light flashes green, I'm 100% throttle and I press Space bar and nothing happens. I've tried changing the bind to something else and then back again but this doesn't solve the problem. I looked through the support forum and found an issue similar to mine and I tried the solution to that problem (pressing ALT+L) this doesn't help, when the light is purple I can't activate, then when I cycle again it returns to flashing green. In the tutorial all the staging worked perfectly using the bind and the staging light was solid green. Am I missing a bind, or have I pressed anything I shouldn't? (I tried starting a new career but this didn't seem to help).

When I load into the launch screen there is the sound of rockets during the black loading screen, I'm not sure how significant this is, but I thought I should mention it just in case. So far I've had to manually control mission stages using the mouse, which means I can't complete the majority of contracts available.

Update: I've played all game modes and the staging issue is the same, the only place it seems to work is in launch training.

I know I shouldn't but it's been 3 days and frankly I'm getting jealous of threads posted either today or yesterday getting 500 views and 23 replies just because their textures are a bit funny (Or stuff like that). Whereas I'm experiencing something gamebreaking (i.e. the complete inability to use the spacebar function), which is a shame because I reallyX10^29 want to get back to playing the game. I only played it for an hour but it was super fun. Now I'm sitting here depressed every day checking back.

(I know it's early access and the team is small, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated).

Hmm, no one answered? Can't have that!

I don't see the cause in the pics and the log wont show for me, can you make a really basic craft (pod, SRB, nothing else) and try that please?

Make sure your mouse pointer isn't over the stage list just in case :)

This is just really strange Cybindis, if you press alt and F2 you can open the debug log to see if there are any errors, alt and F12 will open the options, and one of those shows any input locks that are in effect.

There will be one lock from having clicked the "show input locks" button, and maybe another from what ever is causing this.

Can you also post your settings.cfg and your most recent output_log.txt please :)

Just popping in to say the graphics device being lost is harmless and is caused by KSP not being able to display stuff - like when you Alt-Tab away and it's fullscreen. Switch to borderless window mode (or just plain old windowed mode) if you don't want them to appear in the log/want KSP to continue loading/playing when Alt-Tabbed away (incidentally, Unity hates that).

Unfortunately, I have no idea why your problem is occurring. The only error is at the end of the log and I think is triggered by OnDestroy (which isn't applicable for this).

Actually this is quite important and not harmless, and can cause a wide range of strange problems when playing KSP, though it cannot damage the game or your system.

If KSP is minimised during load it will lose the lock on the graphics card, once this occurs it cannot get it back.

To avoid this you can allow KSP to finish loading or use Alt+Enter to switch to Windowed mode where this problem does not occur, allowing you to then use other programs with KSP in the background.

It's a common issue with DirectX and fullscreen games, but most people don't notice it and it varies from game to game.

This is what's in your settings.cfg, it should say Space, can you try deleting your settings.cfg to reset any changes that were made to it please?

Oh wow I thought my reply had sent. My bad. Yes, I deleted my settings.cfg and now everything's working perfectly. Thank you so much. Now I'm figuring out how to get to orbit Minmus and being let down that my probes cant transmit data, but that's not a technical issue, that's a gameplay issue for later in development!

Thanks again, I've been whoring this game for however many days straight since it was fixed!
