I was missing some textures, fixed it!Now I have SpaceEngine so I'm gonna romp around for textures.

sdj64
I've decided to start making a planet pack. It's going to be more gameplay focused as opposed to realism focused - the planets will be realistic themselves, but not analogous to anything in our solar system.Anyway I have two planets so far. One is a high gravity desert planet with a thin atmosphere. As far as I can tell that's working great. The other is a Titan-like planet with low gravity and thick atmosphere. On that planet, it appears that the height map and the color map in game are not lining up at all, although the textures line up perfectly. I think that the two maps in game differ by 90 degrees or 180 degrees but I'm not sure. It's certainly not just a little bit off. The scaled space matches the color map texture. Is there any good way of going about fixing that? Or should I cut/paste my height texture so that they line up?i.e. this is my heightmap. Cut in half and stick together like this.___________________ _______ ___________| | | || | ----> | || | | |___________________ _______ ___________and a bunch of trial and error until it works. Bekiekutmoar
It seems much can change in a short period of time; not even 2 months ago it seemed the creation of custom planets and moons came to a stop when the momentum of development for Kopernicus was almost gone, and now its possible to even create a working binary star system (Kerbol - Stella)? Gotta say I'm surprised. See if I can reach the Stella system with stock propulsion system, but I assume it requires an ISV-Venture Star-esque ship to actually do this. I've built a nuclear ship, which can go this far, I even have youtube video about that (I can give you a link, if you want). But this was based on PF:CE, which had a faster time acceleration. The trip takes 200 years, which is ludicrously long even at max time acceleratioin. I've even put a ship on an encounter with Stella, but than I realized I have no time to wait until it gets there. So, the warp drive is actually reasonable solution. Besides, will you use any orbital sublight engine, if you can use somehing faster?P.S. At first, I was thinking, it's cheaty, too. But, when I've started to mess up with warp mechanics in KSPI, I realized, that no matter, how easy it is to launch, it can be a real puzzle for you.- - - Updated - - -Oh, and here's my video of this mod, Stella expansion... I remember promissing to make it a couple of days ago. Had a bunch of free time yesterday.Jeb takes the first kerbal warp-capable spaceship, KSS Pheonix, and goes to Smock. P.S. Want more videos? See if I can reach the Stella system with stock propulsion system, but I assume it requires an ISV-Venture Star-esque ship to actually do this. It's not a binary, just a star orbiting Kerbol. And now there are 3 new star-adding packs, so Kerbol is a quarternary star system. Also, you do need a warp drive, and the KSP Interstellar one is optimal as RoverDue's is WAAAAAAAAY too slow, seriously, it took me 3 hours to get to Stella with that thing. No it doesnt. sdj64
By the way, RSS can change the time warp rates. For packs that add far away planets and stars, just put this in RealSolarSystemSettings.cfg timeWarpRates { rate1 = 10 rate2 = 100 rate3 = 1000 rate4 = 10000 rate5 = 100000 rate6 = 1000000 rate7 = 10000000 }Or something to that effect. By removing the 5x and 50x, you now have a max warp 100 times stock max speed. Also, the mod Time Control can change warp rates both in phys-warp and on rails.http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/69363-0-25-Time-Control-9-23-14-v13-2Unrelated to that, here are two planets I have been working on.Ixium is sort of like Titan, with thick atmosphere and low gravity. It has a gravity of 1.4 g and an atmosphere of 0.6 atm.I am planning on adding more planets to the pack, but as these are the most difficult I decided to work on them first. Thomas988
Whats the template used to calculate radius and mass of your planets etc?The template is whatever stock planet you set your custom planet to. Here's how I'd do the mass: if your planet is 700 km. in radius and has a template of Laythe, then you'd take the radius of Laythe (500 km.) and multiply it by how large your custom planet is. 700/500= 1.4. Now, take the mass of your custom planet's template (in this case, Laythe has a mass of 2.9397663E22) and multiply it by that last number we calculated (which was 1.4). Here we would do 1.4*2.9397663E22= 4.11567282E22. 4.11567282E22 would be your mass!Of course, you don't have to it do this way. Just inputting any numbers you see fit will work just fine.
