This is starting to drive me pretty nuts. I've deleted everything, mods, saves, did a completely fresh install of KSP after the .90 update, and all the facilities in career mode are starting out fully upgraded! I literally have no idea what left to try, someone PLEASE HELP me here.... PLEASE...

This is a bug with the 64 bit version, please switch to the 32 bit version.

Hmm there may be a workaround, can you try Control+Rightclick on a building and demolishing it?

You might be able to upgrade it then, or control+rightclick it again and downgrade.

Unfortunately no. Demolishing doesn't allow for downgrades. :/

Win 64-bit career is relatively unplayable at the moment. If you want career mode, the most practical answer is to use 32 bit for now.

Seems to be a problem every one who runs 64bit has. I would like to go on record as saying: I never had any issues with playing the 64bit version stock, the only problems I had with it were when I introduced mods that weren't agreeing. If I god a mod and the game crashed, I could just remove that mod and carry on crash free. Many mods however DID work with the win64 version.

That is very good to know. However, mcbmaestrois running into a known problem with the 64-bit stock career. Unfortunately this bug is being very stubborn and is likely buried pretty deep.

This is the case for me. I'm going to assume that Squad will look into the structures bug with the 64 bit version to see if they can fix it. If they can, I'd expect to see a fix coming before the end of 2014.

For the record, demolishing and rebuilding does work to downgrade to level 1 (CTRL+Right Click after demolition complete, where demolish was, there is an option to rebuild as a level 1) or even level 0 (for 0, you have to CTRL+Right Click while it is still exploding; this may be only available after demo to level 1, I didn't test without going to 1 first). However, as soon as you enter and leave the Tracking Station (at least), it will automatically revert all buildings to fully upgraded again.

It should also be noted that with this bug, the buildings only appear upgraded in the KSC scene, so upgrading again isn't an option. However, functionally they are still starting tier buildings, with all the limitations imposed (Mass Limit on the pad, TS Conic limitations, contract limits, etc.)

If you're really keen to fly with x64, then you can functionally get there by copying your save game back and forth between the 32 bit and x64 versions. You only need to load in 32 in order to upgrade your buildings, and then swap back to 64. At any other time you should be able to play the career in x64 with minimal related issues, other than the one aesthetic difference.

Remember, for this to be hotfixed it needs to not be a bug with Unity. If thats the case, then there's nothing Squad can do. After all, its technically Unity thats 'unstable' as win64 and not KSP. Though I don't get why people call it that. It either workp flawlessly, or does a CTD on load. I have yet to meet someone with any other scenario. Now, forcing DX11 WILL make your KSP nuclear unstable.

YEah will good luck getting any 64-bit support from the developers. 64-bit is always swept under the damn rug.

Actually, a good deal of time was spent trying to fix this. It's buried deeper than simply being a lost bit in KSP code. There may be some issues with the way Unity serializes 64-bit ints that's different than how it works in the other OS's. Assuming that's even the problem, tracking down exactly where that's breaking is proving to be a fair deal of work.

I would also like to go on record stating that I had next to no problem running KSP x64 with over 80 mods installed in .25 and that this situation is very frustrating. It feels like ANOTHER step backward on the x64 build...

I was quite shocked when I read you could upgrade your buildings, as I had no idea. I am running 64 bit windows but the game runs in 32bit mode according to my task manager.

When I right click a building, I get no upgrade options at all. Literally enter or repair. Am I missing something?
