0.90 graphics glitches - z-fighting @VAB & KSC, weird shadows on parachute lines

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I've noticed following graphics problems:

  • z-fighting in VAB with flags - especially visible if you choose an ESA flag.
  • z-fighting in KSC - when you fly over it, you can see KSC terrain part fighting with underlying Kerbin terrain
  • weird shadows on parachute lines - when I'm close to the ground, parachute lines start to fill with shadow (i.e. all space between the lines goes dark); the effect depends of camera orientation - i.e. if you look from a high enough angle, they fill only to half the height of the parachute

I'm at work now, so I don't have screenshots. I'll post them later today if needed. I just want to ask if anyone else has seen those effects and if there are known fixes for them?

I'm seeing Z-fighting with parts in the spaceplane hangar. The reason for this is likely because we can clip parts through each other and we couldn't earlier. I thought this was an issue with the low graphics settings I was playing the game at, but maybe it isn't?

The parachute shadow is a weird one, but what's essentially happening is that the dark shadow part you see is the near-terrain -- the detailed terrain rendered only when you're fairly close (within a couple km, IIRC). For some reason, the transparent textures of the parachute cause that dark shadow when looking through it to detailed near-terrain, but cause no such issue with looking through onto low-res far-terrain. Not sure why, though.
