"No SAS..." message when there's SAS added?

Recommended Posts

I've unlocked the mini-SAS module, and went to build a space plane to do some land survey missions. I used the Mk1 pilot cockpit, attached the SAS module to the back of the cockpit, batteries on the side; but once I try to engage it, I get the message "No SAS or pilot on board. SAS is disengaged."

Is this only because I'm just not getting enough juice? Or is it because the mini SAS module isn't compatible with the larger modules?

Mini SAS? Do you mean the reaction wheel? That does not have SAS.

You'll need a pilot in your Mk1 cockpit or a probe core with SAS in career mode :)

Oh and both probes and reaction wheels need electric charge, check your resource tab in the top right.

There ya go, the reaction wheel. Not enough coffee in my system, lol.

I do have a pilot in the cockpit which had me scratching my head at first. I did add batteries, but I never look at the resource tab. Maybe I should start doing that!

Thanks!

I'm curious how many people are still using the Stayputnik. I used to use it for everything that didn't require a top node. Once I have the OKTO the remaining Stayputniks to on government lot auctions and I never use it again. If I don't have the OKTO yet device tests are all manned.

Basically the only thing I use it for is satellite contracts in the brief window between acquiring the Stayputnik and acquiring the OKTO. It's not worth the hassle for anything else.

tsotha: this thread is kind of a random place to put that, but I used the Stayputnik to rescue a Kerbal in orbit pretty early game. It wasn't terribly easy but it reminded me a bit of the days way back when SAS was not a thing, which was nice in a way.

My first Mun landing used a Stayputnik.

It was..... educational, in a very wobbly sort of way.
