Unable to complete a satellite contract

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm having problems with finishing a satellite contract. I accepted the contract, built and launched a probe with the antenna and power specifications, and I held the orbit for over 10 seconds, but I still cannot complete the contract. For some reason, the game believes that I did not "reach the designated equatorial orbit around Kerbin within reasonable deviation". The thing is, I did. I came within 100 meters of the required orbital specifications. I even had my apoapsis and periapsis matched up with the contract one on-screen. My inclination was also as close as I could get it. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi turkwinif, cool avatar btw :)

Either you're going the wrong way on your orbit or you lack a part, check the ascending/descending nodes and make sure they don't say 180 degrees, if they to, you're backwards.

Also make sure you have a solar panel or RTG, batteries alone is not good enough (I have asked Arsonide to change this, unfortunately launch clamps count as a supply so we get the contracts early).

Also make sure the contract didn't ask for a materials bay or similar which you forgot, I have been caught out that way as well.

From the contracts window, your inclination is supposed to be 180 degrees. My guess would be that you're going in the wrong direction; 180 degrees inclination is retrograde (going west on kerbin)

EDIT: damnit, ninja'd

Also, sal_vager: between the screenshots his contract is clearly visible in full. There's no requirement for instruments.

GAH! You're right, it's suppose to be retrograde! My mistake, sorry for not noticing. Changing to answered.

And thanks, sal!

When it says power, does it mean solar panels AS WELL AS batteries? I have every specification for mine, but no solar panels. The satellite is still alive, and everything but the power and antenna box is checked (I do have an antenna).

Power means a renewable power source. AKA solar panels or an RTG. You don't need batteries at all, but of course they will help for doing maneuvers on the dark side of the planet.
