RCS sound

Really, since space cannot carry sound, there is no sound when RCS thrusters fire. In Interstellar when they showed the docking scenes with RCS, there was no sound

I mean the sound inside the cockpit. You can hear it inside, but not outside in a vacuum.

IRL, RCS working (at least in atmosphere) produces short, sharp gunshot-like sounds when in pulse mode, and sharp loud hiss, when in continuous mode.

Cannot provide source, but I think there is a video clip on youtube, a kinetic kill projectile test with RCS working.

Ops. found it

Outside the ship, you can't hear anything, obviously. Inside the ship, it depends on the sound insulation between the listener and the source. Obviously, there is some insulation, so RCS powered by hypergolic fuels is very loud and would sound like a muffled gun in pulse mode, or deep hissing in continuous mode.

RCS powered by pressurized gas would be much less loud and "angry". :)

The video doesn't really give the credit to the actual sound, but it shows nitrogen dioxide fumes, which is interesting to watch.

Interesting... and noisy. Reminds me of something I was once told about an incoming GBU-28... the only thing you might hear is the "ticking" of the fins as it maneuvers - before you're obliterated.

On the contrary, it sounds like gunshots. Ask people riding Soyuz capsules. Bangbangbang!

Or like that, yes.

I mean: not that lovely "pfffshshsh..."

Btw: the same confusion as with helicopters. In games in movies it sounds too cool: "fftrr-fftrr-fftrr-fftrr-fftrr", but inside a real cabin you just hear a mechanical roaring.

Reminds me of this video, which should not differ that much from a technological point of view. It seems to be pretty violent, even though the recording masks most of the sound volume.
