Fuel transfer help

If I dock a ship to a space station/other ship, can I transfer fuel from one to the other? If so how?

If you click on one of the tanks and then alt-click on another tank you should see in and out buttons appearing allowing you to transfer fuel between them.

If you're in career mode and haven't upgraded the R&D building then this won't work yet. It's also RMB click and alt-RMB.

Will this work if the two tanks are seperated by those I beam looking gurters? (sandbox mode)

Haha yeah, I mean I personally think it'd be cool to have extendable fuel tubes/hoses to connect, maybe even with kerbals, but I also would get frustrated at how tedious that is. I just like making the rockets and watching mechjeb pilot them XD Thanks for the help

What level R&D building? I'm at level 2 and my level 3 building doesn't say anything about fuel transfer when I mouse over the upgrade button. (also, I haven't been able to get the fuel transfer to work since the last alpha patch (I forget the version number))

FWIW last alpha was 0.25.

Well that sounds like some other problem then tbh. I don't know what level the R&D building needs to be, I just know that the 0.90 release thread said upgrading the R&D facility unlocked it. It could be your mod key has stopped working or become unbound. If you're using windows it should be the alt key, for mac it's the option key.

Are you using any mods? Have you tried reinstalling?

I'd just written a list of the mods i'm using etc and then I thought i'd just go and try again.... turns out I was holding down alt BEFORE clicking on the first tank and it wasn't working, as soon as I clicked on one tank, THEN held down alt and clicked on the second, it worked -.-

Level 2 is adequate. It's called "resource transfer", because it covers more than just fuel.

You can, only if there's a valid fuel transfer path between the tank you transfer from and the vessel you transfer to.

In VAB, some parts are not capable to fuel transfe. If you build your port on those, any vessel docked on that port are not receiving any fuel.

Actually you can pretty much do this for any combination of parts using the MOD(Alt)+right click interface. For example, stack decouplers and I-beams do not allow fuel "transfer" normally (fuel crossfeed), and yet:

You can do just that with Kerbal Attachment System mod. Take a look at it, its really not as tedious as one might think and gives your guys something to do up in space rather than EVA reports while hanging off ladders.
