Throttle defaulting to 50% causing problems

Recommended Posts

It's a terrible suggestion I suspect, but have you tried docking without switching modes? I can dock with no problems controlling my ship with wasdqe for rotation and ijklhn for translation. I don't even think about it anymore and just do it.

He may be using a Flight Stick or Gamepad, I think that is the primary use for docking mode. Really even a gamepad typically has 2 analogs these days, but if you are using a flight stick you pretty much have to switch back and forth, or go back to the keyboard.

After testing the mod, it does indeed reset the throttle to 0 at the launchpad, BUT as it turns out it doesn't affect my docking mode issue; in docking mode the throttle still resets to 50%.

I made a quick test on the launch pad with 2 rovers which each had a docking port. One had the thrust set to 50%, the other to 0%. No matter which rover I controlled during the docking process thrust was always reset to 0%.

My conclusion is you experience a bug. Do you have mods installed? If you do, which ones? Also please upload your \KSP_Data\output_log.txt. We'll take a look into it if there are errors.

I don't think you did the test as he described it. By his report, you MUST be in docking mode for it to occur. Since your rover probably wouldn't be in docking mode, it's not an adequate test. I'm not in a position to test it myself but it sounds like this should be moved to a support forum. It may be a new entry for Claw's bug list. I'm pretty sure that although 50% throttle on launch is intended, what the OP is describing is not.

I'm afraid that's not an option with my gamepad.

My mods installed are:

[h=2][0.90] Editor Extensions v2.5[/h][h=2]PlanetShine[/h]Ven's Part Revamp

[h=2][0.90] Protractor Continued - Rendezvous Plugin v2.4.15[/h][h=2][0.90] DefaultThrottle - set the default 50% throttle on launch to what YOU want![/h][h=2]Kerbal Engineer Redux v1.0[/h]

because this "feature" has ....ed up too many of my missions already, and I'm getting fed up with it.

I know a person named ed too, but I don't think that has anything to do with this.

But on a serious note, this should be fixed. I'm a... well... not a good *cough* skilled user when it comes to docking and stuff (HyperEdit FTW) But I'm learning pretty quick, and I hope this is fixed by the time I get to it.

As the forum is not full of posts complaining about 50% throttle while docking and I too have never seen this happening - although I will run into my sandbox test save this evening and try to make sure - this seems to be a bug in this specific install/save/mod-combo?
