Can't exit to Space Center

Recommended Posts

I just finished docking two ships together, and am getting ready to launch the last piece, but KSP won't let me go to space center. When I hit esc it opens the menu as usual and 'settings' and 'resume flight' both work, but clicking on 'space center' does nothing. If I quicksave and force close KSP will I be able to pick up where I am?

After docking I noticed my staging was all messed up with a few empty stages so I sorted all that out, staged through the empties, made sure I'm not time warping or under acceleration. Any ideas?

I'm on 0.90, and using KER, FAR, Proc. Fairings, Proc. Tanks, Outer Planets, and RemotTech

EDIT:

I tried switching focus to another ship and now things are really messed up. It didn't change the camera focus, and now i can't click any other ships to re-focus on the original. I also can't create maneuver nodes. I'm afraid to force quit because I don't know if a quicksave stays where it's at if I force out of the game.

I can't say for sure, but it sounds like a glitch with one of the mods you are running. I've had similar issues when at the space center and not being able to click on anything. Reloading the game worked for me, and my orbital craft was still were I left it. I'd suggest checking your mods and seeing if there have been any updates recently. Best of luck!

This is one of the symptoms of low memory and, yes, closing and re-starting should solve it.

Rather than blame it on Outer Planets specifically it's just 'too many mods'. Or just playing a single session too long; KSP has a number of memory-leak problems and will get steadily worse as you play, particularly with many ship- or scene- changes. As a rule, I close after every 7(!) changes or every 30 minutes, whichever is sooner. Yeah, my machine's bad, and I hardly have any mods any more :-(

Is KSP able to eat through the full physical memory (say 8GB) of a computer or only up to the 32bit RAM limit in total, meaning RAM used to run the game and leaked memory in total?

Yeah, I have the same issue, and I'm starting to think that KAS is to blame.

It doesn't happen if I don't have KAS parts on board.

No, KAS probably isn't to blame, just like it probably isn't "caused" by Outer Planets for the others. If you have more mods, especially mods that add parts, they'll use more memory so you have less left and will hit the wall earlier. The blame is still on the Unity/KSP memory leaks in the first place though.

A 32-bit program will only ever get to the 32-bit limit as it can't count (literally) any more. If you only have four "One Gigabyte" labels, it doesn't matter how many are on offer. KSP starts with, say, 1.5GB of 8GB, then loses track of 500MB and requests 500MB more. KSP only sees 1.5GB, the OS says it has 2GB (and can't re-use that leaked memory either).
