Kraken

Recommended Posts

Some say the kraken is every where, some say it is in the shadows of every ship, kerbal scientists estimate that the kraken is attracted to green for some strange reason. A kerbal is rumored to have seen the kraken him self. It is said during his debriefing he was taken over by some mysterious force that spoke

"The kraken is the universe however even the kraken has a home..."

A marketing executive from Sean's Cannery once initiated a limited production run of canned kraken meat. Tests performed under the authority of the subsequent health and safety investigation revealed the food product was in fact common shellfish protein infused with copious amounts of red and green dye, liquid smoke, and ammonia (for "that great UDMH taste all you rocket engineers love"). Despite this chemical analysis, no explanation has been found for the spontaneous and physically-significant physical dissociation of over 98% of all kerbals known to have consumed this product, or the similar events affecting every space vehicle known to have carried a stock of the product (either as provisions, or mistakenly as a small auxiliary backup fuel source).

The executive in question randomly accelerated to unimaginable velocities during a press conference. Due to fortuitous planetary alignments, is expected to set a new Kerbin > Jool speed record of twenty seconds prior to his permanent departure from the Kerbol system, and possibly CRASHING THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE.

(Not mine, but I did drop such a mission for the KSP Game Challenge; that pic is Jean Deaux's "proof of victory"...).

It is rumored that the various asteroids around Kerbin are in fact Krakens dropping.

This idea is supported by observation of strange phenomenons that sometime occur when a ship try to grab said asteroids.

Such phenomenons include (but are not limited to):

  • Being accelerated to near lightspeed velocity
  • Breaking the space-time continum by being rendered completely still while the Kerbol system keep on going.
  • Creating space-warps breach where gravity influence vessels at any place and time, resulting in ship being lost by falling into.. uh... nothingness
  • Voiding universe warranty just before breaking it so bad that other entities in different universe can be heard crying over the lost of their "persistence"

Although numerous kerbal were lost while gathering these data, KSC scientists are very excited with the result. They hope to tame the phenomenon within the decade to create the fabled "Kraken-drive" at last.

In a press conference, KSC pilot Jebediah Kerman expressed his enthousiasm with early prototypes of the device, although it is still "quite blowy" in its current state from his own saying.
