Hi there! I just started using this mod and can't seem to know how to work with this?

So food I have to bring, water too... and they turn to waste so I need a waste recovery or something ok... but what about carbon dioxide? What do I do when the ship is full of it?

Any other tips on this mod please do so!

It's been a while but if I remember correctly there is a CO2 scrubber part you can use. Of course you can always haul it back to KSC, you just need a place to put it and bring extra O2.

TAC LS adds death conditions. If they starve, they die. If they freeze, they die. If the compartment if full of unbreathable gas like CO2, they die. It's a matter of ratios in combined space. You can't keep pumping in more O2 if there is no place for the CO2 to go. If you did you would have explosive decompression.

Have you ever put a coke can in the freezer? Same thing.

AFAIK (and I've been using TAC a while), there is no danger to having extra waste/CO2. Excess is dumped overboard and does not affect your Kerbal. All you lsoe is the chance to recycle it back to usable resources.

Edit: From the TAC-LS page:

  • "Kerbals produce waste resources: Carbon Dioxide, Waste, and Waste Water. Currently Carbon Dioxide can be recycled into Oxygen, and Waste Water can be recycled into clean Water. Also can filter Oxygen out of IntakeAir, or split Water into Oxygen and Waste (hydrogen). A greenhouse part that allows growing Food is planned, but is not included yet.
  • "Filling up with waste resources (Carbon Dioxide, Waste, Waste Water) has no effect. Any excess is dumped overboard, and you lose the opportunity to convert them back into good resources."

Hmm but what really happens when the ship is full of CO2 but I still have plenty of O2 ?

CO2 can be recycled, but it won't kill your crews if you have full of it on the ship. Think of the CO2 being stored away in tanks that can be used for recycling later on, not that your crew module is suddenly full of CO2.

If you run out of O2 however, that is bad.

Ok, I seem to have forgotten how that works I guess. I thought you could.

For 95% of all missions, I don't even worry about the recycling parts and waste resources... that's something I do for space stations maybe, but certainly not for one-shot flights.

I simply mount only resource canisters and not any waste canisters. I also turn off the storage of waste resources in the crew pod(s) with the little green button. As a result, the ship is unable to store any CO2 whatsoever and thus never carries any - it immediately gets dumped overboard.

For stations that do store and recycle waste, I have never encountered any issue with storing CO2, or crew dying from an excess of any sort of waste...
