Move Craft Gadget

Based on this support thread this is a request to add a new gadget button that when activated would open an interface similar to the Offset gadget around the root part. When the arrows are dragged, this would move the entire craft relative the VAB/SPH environment.

Isn't it easier just to hold down shift and move the whole craft with the mouse?

Yeah, it's a standard control already. It's helped me quite a bit, I tell you.

No it's not. Moving a 2 dimensional mouse cursor in a 3 dimensional environment doesn't work well.

Something like the offset gadget would be lovely for this purpose. and a free flying VAB camera...

No it's not. Moving a 2 dimensional mouse cursor in a 3 dimensional environment doesn't work well.

nah it's fine, just move the camera to the right position first then move the craft laterally or up and down, don't try with the camera looking down though, that doesn't work too well.

It's still unintuitive, which is the whole point of the gadgets.

cant you select the root part and then use the translate gizmo to move to the center?

Why not have a reset vehicle location button that just puts it back to where the root part would of appeared when you first place it.

Good idea. The rotation gadget also doesn't do anything the keys can't do, but at times its useful. I think this would too. I also wouldn't mind a center button, for when I want to put my selected spacecraft back to the exact center of the launch pad.

Does that work? I'm not at my computer right now but to the best of my memory I didn't think that would work. If it does that would be an acceptable solution, if it doesn't making it work that way would also be an alternative.

Well that would be nice in addition to, but that isn't always where you want it. I like have my planes wheels on the floor of the SPH, for example, to test their alignment.

I usually just use the offset gizmo. Just shift-click any piece and the whole craft will be moved. But I would love an automated-centering button too, as that would help me lining up my planes perfectly center of the runway, or at the center of the pad, for example.

Ok, the Offset gizmo does already do this if you select the root part. I feel stupid now
