Mun Base Locations

One of the Mun arches has a fairly flat region just to the West. It's not an enormous site, but it's big enough for most any base.

The Armstrong Memorial is in the middle of quite a flat plain, or at least it was a few versions ago. I should really go back and check.

The Armstrong Memorial is in on a flat plane but amongst some pretty treacherous terrain so be careful. The arch that is southwest of there is on a good stretch of flat area. Ever try downloading the ScanSat mod? I love it and it gives a reason for many missions just to make maps.

I have a feeling that after 1.0 comes out base location will be determined less by the terrain and more by the amount of resources there.

I have had a scansat probe around the mun for some time, and have decided i am to build a base near the arch also.

Its not flat, theres a bit of a gradient the closer to the arch I get but i'm hoping it should be ok, going to be landing modular segments anyway.

Having played both Kethane and Karbonite, I always seem to find a spot that has all 3 requirements within what I consider reasonable deviations:

1. Equatorial, within 5 degrees (so a 10 degree band around the equator)
   
2. High Concentration, the top percentage number. i.e. if there are 6% areas but not 7% areas, I can land in an area that is 6.#%
   
3. Relatively Level, 10 degree slope or less.
   

From what I've seen of the two maps they've shown so far I don't expect that to change much on default settings.
