  1. Meh, don' think about it too much. You at least did your research; I didn't even bother with the Saturn I because I thought it was just an underpowered version of the Saturn IB. Might get on with it after I finish my main entry...
  2. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand jsut realsied that my S-IV stage should actually be called S-IVB. Thanks for that, Xeldrak. Gonna fix it right now. Ohh, and anyone knows how I can change the title of an album? It doens't give me the option on "change inage titles/descriptions"
  3. Seeing this actually made me wonder why a Gaseous Snake never showed up. Then I thought what I had just said and decided to never think about this again. But now a Snake using farts as his weapons is stuck in my mind!
  4. I'm sorry dude, but I just don't get it. As others said, the closest you can Abort to 1km is 1 km, which can be pinpointed by user of a specialised vehicle. But even in a proper launch, generally speaking the earlier you have to Abort the safer it is.
  5. Yeah, I see your point as regards both the position and science. It is true that, despite what science nuts like me want to believe for lack of a more fun game to compare to RL, KSP is just that ;a fun game, not a realistic space flight simulator. KSP players pay the game not (exclusively) for its attention to realism (even though it is much closer to home than others obviously), but for its fun factor, and therefore KSP is not always obliged to file some arbitrary rules just because we have been taught that's the right way - especially when fan -made mods come into play. Anyways -great job on that mod, man. I'll be sure to try it after I finish my Apollo challenge
  6. Well, I understand the atmoshpere part, but I don't really think Jool has been moved close enough to Kerbin to get the same amount of sunlight. Since I did read the OP, Jool seems to remain at the outermost parts of the Kerbol system, so this would mean that either the majority of the system (which is much bigger than the stock Kerbol system) has been stuffed in one KAU's (Kerbal Astronomical Unit) radius, or Kerbol is much larger than stock.
  7. No, when I said " around the gas giant " I meant "on a planet orbiting a gas giant ". See, I would immediately say you start of at Kerbin, but my nerd mode engaged just in time to tell me that condirions at the new position of Kerbin are no longer exactly suitable for intelligent life -and thus my question was created.
  8. Waitwaitwaitwautwait, that means that either Kerbals live on Laythe now (so the game must be called Lathan Space Program), or your space program starts off around a frakking gas giant?!?!?!
  9. My opinion is that SQUAD basically admits officially that they rushed too much on the official release of KSP; not that I don't like that new things still be added, but they said that the transition to Beta meant that all the major features were there. And now, both for 1.0 and 1.1, they added some of the biggest changes in the game as we know it since 0.1, with complete lack of subtlety and the latest of warnings.
  10. Hurt?Hurt? Nosecones cannot be hurt. Nosecones are immortal; nosecones are majestic creatures, sent by the Kraken to forever remind us of our frailty, and to prepare us for the Awakening that will cleanse our souls of sin and folly.
  11. Another "How do you pronounce planet X?" How and when did that pronuncomania even start???? And yeah, I would also recommend Manley on regards to pronunciations, if not for the fact that the way he pronounces out might not be too readily apparent to everyone. But in all seriousness, if you want the real pronunciation, ask no further than Robbaz!
  12. Well, the Ion Engine is a bad example for measuremen, as it is probably the worst in a chain of inconsistencies between KSP engine and RL engine performance. Actually, now that I think about it, every single part of the game is an inconsistency... Except for pirates and ninjas, obviously. And the thing with exhaust Velocity being specific impulse time Earth Gravity is that it is actually the reverse ;specific impulse is exhaust Velocity divided by Earth's gravity. In reality, specific impulse is a totally rredundantterm that was implemented in rocket science for the sole purpose of facilitating research in a workspace with users of both the metric and imperial system. By multiplying the same unit (Isp) with an easily remembered and science -related number (go, or Earth's gravity) rocket scientists can have the exhaust Velocity in either m/s or f/s, depending on their preference.
  13. I almost never do temperature scan /aerial survey contracts. They annoy me to hell.
  14. Actually, any possibility that my imgur albums look all weird exactly because I have them in spoilers? That's the only thing I can think of.
  15. That's what I'm doing too. I don't know what's happening... And no, I don't mind at all -you may have noticed I'm a fellow nitpicker myself. See, I didn't really want to label it as A-003 at first because my LJ never reached transonic speeds. On the other hand, it does seem that A-003 is at least closer... I'll change it right now.
  16. Nah, that's standard issue nosecone behaviour, there is nothing to worry about. It's adressed in Nosecone Daily, next on "5 ways to make the your Nosecones respect you". Also, my embedded ingur albums look a bit funky when inside the spoilers. What's the mater with that?
  17. ... Please don't tell me the nosecone also survived a splashdown. If it did, get on to making a weapon of that nosecone material and unleash hell Anyways, I decided I might as well post some of my progress up to this point.
  18. Xeldrak, why do I have the sneaking suspicion that this nosecone is just gonna get refurbished and refitted for the remainder of the Odin Program? I mean, it does have survived two flights by now, why stop here?
  19. Wait, what is there to be won by this configuration? My humble and uneducated quess is that the river will just spontaneously explode due to the KSP physics engine.
  20. Okay, all Saturn IB launches -at least those that matter - are safely deposited on imgur, immune to being lost on software crashes and viruses. Since I don't feel like posting things out of chronological order, though, I quess I'll get on launching all launches up to Eleven (literally) before I post my progress. In a while, however, people will finally know of the Artemis Programs succession! Oh, and I don't feel like getting back on my AAR yet -at least not until I have finished my application. On the other hand, I'll be on holidays with neither an Internet connection nor access to KSP, so that might be a good time to finish some chapters.
  21. Those times when you successfully send a tricky rescue Mission, only to realise that my craft is already full. Many times have I left my own crew behind, just to score the most Reputation ("No, of course he's not dead. He's just... testing the survivability of Kerbals in deep space. Yeah, that's it. ")
  22. No, no, underpowered is not what I meant. See, the Mk.1-2 capsule (the most Apollo-esque piece of equipment on stock KSP) has a diameter on 2.5 meters. Therefore, to keep the iconic Saturn V profile, most entries have a S-IV stage (the third stage) with a 3.75m fuel tank, and a S-II stage (the second stage) and S-ICstage (the first stage) with their best tries for a stock approach to a 5m rocket (or actual 5m tanks from mods such as KW Rocketry) . In your case, the CSM will be the same size as your S-IV stage if not bigger, unless you opt out for the Mk.1 single Kerbal capsule. And your possible Skylab entry will be a bit... Tiny, that's all Now, don't you think I'm trying to force you into a certain way of thinking. If you have found a solution to these problems already, or if you simply don't mind the difference, I will still be happy to see your rockets in action
