  1. @NISSKEPCSIM Welcome to the forums! --- I brought the rover I used on my Jool mission, since I figured I'd have a long trek to make: I also brought some explosives for kicks and giggles destroying debris Cool guys don't look at explosions... Anndd... legs attached! And with that, the first part of my base is complete! let the awkwardly-shaped payloads begin...
  2. Second part has arrived, and-- why is it missing landing gear on one side *sigh* It's okay. I'll just send a lander and attach new landing gear using KAS Wait... Oh boy. Good thing I brought a rover...
  3. Dang that's impressive. Sorry it didn't work --- My engine shrouds are slowly but surely drifting away Anyway, the first piece of my base arrived! Woo! Only [insert large number here] left to go!
  4. I dunno. I just updated Kopernicus and it seems to work fine, besides the KSC view being broken. But that can be bypassed by using the buttons. What issues are you having?
  5. Started sending pieces of my base to Serran. I don't have any pictures because the rockets all kinda look the same, but don't worry. They'll get weirder soon enough.
  6. Decided to put together my base (or at least what I've made of it so far) on Kerbin to see if everything fit Still have one more section to make, as you can see
  7. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't launch the hydroponics all at once
  8. Serran. It's also from New Horizons. It's a pretty cool mod with a lot of cool planets. Case in point: Serran has oxygen and is close to Kerbin (as in they both orbit a gas giant)
  9. Made a small mining base... ...and started working on a much bigger one
  10. Pretty sure it's just stock Ugh, I have that issue too. Ctrl+z is my friend (also congrats on finding a magic boulder )
  11. Tme MTU Meteor is back home! Unfortunately it has only 40 m/s delta-v left. Which is just barely enough to perform a capture burn, but not enough to circularize. Probably because I never aerobraked. So let's aerobrake! Several rounds of aerobraking later and I'm in a nice, circular orbit! My inclination, however, leaves much to be desired Unfortunately I only have 7 m/s remaining, so I can't fix it. Oh well.
  12. I was very sad when I discovered asteroids couldn't be used as heat shields
  13. I'm pretty sure you just made a portable Gilly --- Decided to do something a bit different, and do some reconnaissance for future missions (I know right, planning ahead? I really was driven insane!) First up: checking out the terrain of Tidus's poles: Just as I suspected: the poles are very mountainous. What I did not expect, however, were the giant glaciers at the edge of the poles. I might have to check those out... Next up: figure out orbital velocity in low Etal orbit to find the minimum delta-v required to land. I didn't actually do a circularization burn, since I couldn't pass up the huge gravity assist, so I took the delta-v required for a circularization burn, and subtracted it from my velocity at periapsis. Alright, let's see, velocity at periapsis is... ~4000 m/s. Off to a good start! The circularization burn takes ~1300 m/s, so 4000 - 1300 = 2700, and 2700 * 2 = 5400. 5400 m/s. And that's just the minimum. Oh boy!
  14. Everybody is back on board the MTU Crystal! Yay! I also built a buggy! Yay x2! Where do I plan on using it? it's a secret
  15. My eyes! According to this it's about 1/20 --- Takeoff was much faster this time, in both time and number of tries I must not have done as a good a job as I thought I did though, since this time I made it to orbit with only 92 m/s remaining. That was close! Now to recover them!
  16. --AND THAT'S WHY THE MOON LANDINGS WERE STAGED ON DRES Anyway, turns out spaceplanes do need nosecones or else they can't go fast enough to take off So it looks like I'll have to re-land it anyway... *1 hour later* I'VE FINALLY DONE IT! And you know what? It was all through hard work and determination. Any by "hard work and determination" I mean "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" Huh. (Ok to my credit I actually made slight tweaks now and then. But it was mostly doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results)
  17. The colorful ones are rare and speshal --- Made it back into orbit! ok, this image wasn't taken from orbit, but trust me *phew* Imma be honest, I was a bit worried. Takeoff was a bit tricky (thank Squad for quicksaves) and I wasn't sure if I'd have enough delta-v to make it to orbit. But I managed to make it with 200 m/s to spare! Time for the next one! Oh boy, here comes the fun part! *countless attempts and several hours later* (I wish I was joking) YESYESYES OH COME ON You know what? No. I don't need nosecones. NOSECONES are just for SHEEP who BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT'S LIES ABOUT NEEDING NOSECON--
  18. Arrived at Tidus: Now, I'd just like to take a moment to point out one of the crew reports: Mhm. > 1.2 g > .6 atm Yeah no sure whatever you say. Well after falling out of that perfect-for-planes sky a couple of times I've managed to land, and wow, Thomry is glowing Was it really that hot? It only reached a nice, pleasant 1380 K during re-entry. It's not that hot...
  19. Built a new MOTHER: Its TWR is better and it has cool doors! But more importantly, it has a higher delta-v than a normal MOTHER, which is good since I'm planning on using it in the inner solar system! Hopefully it'll turn out better than last ti-- wait i didn't use a normal MOTHER last time i used a special one with 18,000 m/s this one only has 13,000 m/s aww
  20. I present to you my most promising Titanus lander yet: the Titanus Ascent Vehicle! Stage 1: Flies to the upper atmosphere using jet engines Stage 2: The wings and jet engines detach Stage 3: It's so CUTE er, efficient Now I just need to get it there...
  21. You know, at this point I've given up on trying to understand the KSC view Anyway, the mining ship has made its first trip! Now, let's see... Uh oh. The amount of ore collected isn't enough to make up for the fuel used. That's not good. *sigh* Well, looks like we're doing this again. Too bad this thing has the maneuverability and stability of a cruise liner balanced on its nose (actually, now that I think about it, that's kinda what it is) Well, after several minute of almost tipping over, awkwardly hopping, and wishing I could use timewarp to cancel my rotation, I've FINALLY landed. Ugh. Next time I'm bringing a better mining ship.
  22. I mean, Sonnah is pretty big... They're mine now (also yes it is called an altimeter) --- Not much. Landed on Bop. That's all.
  23. Lately it seems people are being hit by floods. I have bigger problems. Oh, but don't worry, I still get floods too. Well, in between floods and entire oceans flying off in search of less explode-y places, I've managed to pull off a successful test run of my crane! Minor issue: the crane seems to be able to carry things just fine. Which defeats the purpose of the cargo rover. Plus I'm going to have to bring the crane anyway to unload the cargo.
  24. I'm glad I brought a mining ship. I'd still have enough delta-v to do a round trip, but I would not have enough delta-v to deal with Gilly's retrograde orbit (oh btw Gilly has a retrograde orbit) and I would not have the ~7000 m/s delta-v needed to do the Tidus capture burn after coming in from high Vanor orbit. Actually, I still don't have enough for that. Looks like I'll have to stop at Bop for refuels. Luckily, I have plenty of time to figure things out. >90 days, to be exact. (I don't like how large gas giants' spheres of influence are) In the meantime, my crane is complete! (no I will not call it krane) I'm pleased with how it turned out: Uses landing gear to raise the arm, letting it lift things without consuming any resources Can lift anything it outweighs (hypothetically) Arm can re-dock Of course, I still have to do a test drive. Later. I have other things I need to do.
