As promised, a couple of days ago on Extrasolar's 4th birthday I released an update adding the small dwarf planet Teeko. I will continue to add more small dwarf planets like Teeko into the future.
-
I also saw that Proxima Centauri c was recently confirmed, so I will be working on that as well!
-
In the coming weeks, I will be making the interstellar objects Borisov and 'Oumuamua, as well as making Arrokoth (AKA Ultima Thule). The strange shape of Arrokoth and 'Oumuamua will prove difficult to capture, but I am not giving up!

Literally four posts above you, this same problem with the flares was already addressed. Please when you are pointing out an issue, look back to see if it has already been covered.
As for the grid-like dots, to my knowledge that's a problem with scatterer and has nothing to do with REX.
As for principia compatibility, again, just three posts above yours this was already addressed. It doesn't take that much energy or time to just read a couple of posts before yours before asking a question.

Hey for some reason I can't see any of the screenshots! Regardless I'm sure it looks good

My favorite is probably moons in the rings around a large gas planet. Lots to see and explore. If there's a planet off by itself, that is hard to get to and doesn't have much for resources. I only hit it up to check it off a list. Even if it may be a wonderful planet. I do like the idea of it around Valentine, that way you don't need to worry about compatibility as much with other mods.
It would be neat to have some small body or bodies between Kerbol and Valentine to act as a way station. Something in a really high orbit around Kerbol that is caught between the gravity of both stars. Just to build on your mod.
I do look forward to your planet, are you going to wait for Kopernicus 1.8 Version release or release for 1.7?
Thank you very much for your input. I think I'll try to put it between Valentine and Kerbol and see how that works. I'll just have to make sure that it doesn't ruin compatibility with OPM.

Thanks! It is compatible with OPM.

Planet looks great.
I haven't completely decided if it should be in a wide orbit around Valentine, or in a wide orbit around Kerbol. I originally wanted it to orbit around Kerbol, further out than even Valentine, but if I were to do that, the light from Kerbol would be too dim to see the texture I just spent a day working on . More likely than not, I'll end up putting it around Valentine as a small dwarf planet.

So this afternoon, I've been working on Teeko, and here's what I have so far. It actually looks surprisingly good! I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm trying to make it somewhat reminiscent of Pluto. The color map will most definitely change between now and January 24th

January 24, 2020 will be Extrasolar's 4th birthday. I sometimes forget how old Extrasolar is. I made Extrasolar when I was still in middle school, and now I'm almost in college. Time really does fly.
In celebration, I want to add a new planet into Extrasolar, which I know hasn't happened for quite some time. I'm tentatively calling this planet "Teeko" though this may change. That's all the information I'll give for now

All planets appear to have an atmospheres and there are no moons. Plan on adding any moons?
All of the planets have an atmosphere because they are all earth-sized or super Earth's. None of the planets I've added so far would make sense to not have any atmosphere.
As for exomoons, this has been addressed before. I do not plan on adding exomoons, as REX only adds confirmed celestial objects, which means exomoons are out of the picture.

Andrew! Thanks for replying, I appreciate it!
Got it on the flare front, nothing to worry about if it's only Map View!
Re Principia - that's sad - it'd be awesome to have RSS + REX and Principia, but hey, enough that we've got your current work to enjoy!!!
Thanks again, I will be playing with your mod *a lot* in the upcoming month of time off from work I'll be starting in 2 weeks!
I know it really would be nice if Principia could work with REX! If anything, the axial tilt feature would be sooo helpful. I'm happy that you're excited to try out REX! I've put a lot of time into it.

I think this will probably be solved by the update you just released, but I noticed for a few systems that the Star's actual position and its Flare were separated (separation distance roughly 5-10 Star's diameter). I guess this is due to having a more updated RSS version than the one you intended for REX to work with - I assume this is now fixed as you just released a new updated version of the mod.
One final question: what do you think it would happen if I throw Principia on top of this (of course I can and will try for myself)? It would be absolutely awesome if these Star Systems were constructed in a realistic fashion such that n-body gravitation could be applied to them.
That issue with the flares is known and (to my knowledge) cannot be fixed. However, it's a bug that only appears in the tracking station. If you send a probe over to the star and then go into the map view, the flares should be positioned properly.
As for principia, unfortunately principia does not work with interstellar distances. Don't misunderstand, I would totally want principia to work with REX as well, but it isn't possible at the moment, and likely won't ever be possible.

Just released a new update for REX. The most notable changes are biome maps, some improved textures and optional stock-alike names which can be enabled or disabled in the settings file.

Hello @AndrewDraws
The description of "Barnard b" is equal to "Proxima Centauri b", a copy past error cheers!
Thanks for pointing that out! All of the planets will have their own descriptions in the next update.

Well if you got KSPIE Kerbalsim installed, Radiation from nuclear engines becomes an issue again, you realy want to put your crew as far as possible for the nuclear source as possible
I didn't even know Kerbalism added that feature. That's actually really interesting.

The problem is not 1.8.1.
If I install by the book 1.7.3 and 1.8.1 just with REX the results are 100% equal.
The problem is the adding some more planet and star packs, I have 83 addons, that some how are raising that problem of excess of light, thanks for your concerns I understand them.
I believe that I found the solution, fixing the other mod pack and keep those both files.
Thanks!
I still do not recommend using kopernicus in a version of KSP that it doesn't support. That's just generally a bad idea and will cause problems for you.
Also, there being "excess light" isn't really a thing unless the makers of those mods didn't make the stars' light curves correctly.
-
@pmborg I'd seriously not recommend using REX in a version of ksp that kopernicus doesn't support. Also, you should NOT disable REX_RSSVE and REX_RSS. Those are very important files and you will encounter issues if you disable them.

Yes it is. Btw, could you use more pictures of Proxima Centauri b? I need it for the Proxima Centauri challange.
Right now, I only have this screenshot of Proxima Centauri b on me

Ok, but shouldn't it affect the colors precieved on the surface, making it look warmer ...
Yes, and the colors are warmer, just not as exaggerated as what you usually see in exoplanet art.
If I showed a side-by-side comparison of how the surface looks with a white light source and how it looks with a slightly warm light source, you'd be able to see the difference.

Shouldn't the the sun be a lot more red?
No. Red dwarfs are not actually red. They are more like a pale orange.

Hello @AndrewDraws,
Today I adapted the real-exoplanets-v09 for 1.7.3 and 1.8.1 (Kopernicus Beta version), based on a challenge from @FreeThinker, let me know if you are interested on it.
The solution of the fixes are posted above, but for convenience or whatever I can make a zip for you.
I love your work Andrew this is the minimum that I can do
Cheers!
I released v0.9.1 the other day which is compatible with 1.7.3

Here's how the new dwarf planet Teeko looks like:
It orbits a substantial distance away from Kerbol, that's why it is so dim. Its orbit shouldn't conflict with any of the planets in OPM
