1. Water ice, coloured with mint coloured food colouring ... it was a secret marketing gag by a mint ice producing company on Kerbin, done several decades before the establishment of the manned Kerbal Space Program and was meant to increase said companies sales in mint flavoured ice. Unfortunately they didn´t take into account that Minmus was too small and far away to be seen in colour from Kerbin, without the help of strong telescopes and therefore it only increased mint ice sales in astronomer circles. Furthermore the company (along with other food producing companies) went broke durfing the food crisis a few years before the establishment of the Kerbal Space Program ... when Kerbals discovered that they are photosynthetic and don´t need to consume any food. Only a few snack producing companies survived this crisis (because eating snacks is known to relieve stress and therefore eating didn´t go out of fashion with certain high risk jobs)
2. So, does anyone know if a version for 1.1 is in the works ... or if the 1.0.5-Version is also compatible for KSP 1.1?
3. Same here ... Commodore 64 + Datasette (i.e. "ordinary" audio cassettes as storage space ...many of the younger people may not even know anymore, what an audio cassette is :D) As for topic: Nope ... IMHO there are lots of good things that could be officially implemented (i.e. not "just" by mods) ... for example 1-2 additional gas giants (which IIRC also was in the plans a loing while ago) ... a life support system ... maybe a beautification of Kerbin (for example cities on the surface) and other planets ... a weather/temperature system (outside of reentry heat) ... and many more things. Therefore IMHO Squad should work on new things (while not neglecting bugfixing of course) as they wish and see it to be financially viable (perhaps some of the things could also be put into addons that have to be bought)
4. Great .. and fortunately it sdeems like I was there before the big rush to the store as it downloaded in just 30 mins
5. When I have uncovered the techs to build Sepratrons (almost) all of my manned rockets get a form of LES ... I also often use the stock LES, in connection with commando capsules that are covered in fairings during ascent (just like the original Apollo rocket)
6. Nope. There is one Mod ... Kerbal Engineer Redux ... which I would be very sad to lose, if it wouldn´t work with the new version of KSP ... but there is not a single mod whose absence would cause me to quit KSP altogether (actually, before Kerbal Engineer Redux, I calculated the important values of my rockets via Excel ... I would return to this, if I wouldn´t have KER anymore ... although it takes much longer to do it this way)
7. I agree ... this would benefit us both ... the user as well as Squad ... as it reduces the load on the download server of the store
8. With regards to the spaceship parts (and fuel and the like) I definitely prefer realism over stock (despite the fact that my first steps in playing a new major update always are, to start a career in stock mode). I prefer to play with the Kerbal solar system however (instead of the real solar system mod)
9. He would have written much less stories, because he would have been too busy playing KSP
10. I joined in Feb. 2012, so this thread obviously isn´t for me ... just looking around
11. It is really funny that I found this thread by googling for images of the TTA book by Cowley to show them as examples for great SciFi art :D Long time ago I owned the german versions of Spacewrecks as well as Spacecraft 2000-2100 AD and I have to agree ... the great illustrations combined with the stories were deeply inspirational ... especially the ones in "Spacewrecks" (I especially loved the story about the huge derelict battlefield they found IIRC on a planet in the Alshain system ... with the huge rotting machinery of war, the skeletons and a few degenerated last members of the species which waged the war that led to the whole extinction of their civilization)
12. The best SciFi paintings I can think of can be found in the illustrated books about the Terran Trade authority ... image googling for Terran Trade Authority and Cowley can reveal lots of them ;) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terran_Trade_Authority Here 2 links with a few examples: http://www.darkinthedark.com/tag/art/page/7/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/495325658993839193/

Take on Mars

Well, it already is a great game, even if it isn´t finally released yet ;)
14.
"Old" game? Simple: Dungeons and Dragons.... with dice, calculators and lots of paper and pencils! I learned to play in the early 80' when I was stationed in Germany.... and it definitely is the cause of my gaming addiction... lol..
That´s actually strange ... considering that DSA (Das Schwarze Auge ... The Black Eye) is the most popular Pen & Paper RPG in germany, I would have expected you to get infected with the DSA virus there :D (on the other hand, IIRC it didn´t come out before 1984 or 1985 ... so if you said first half of the 80s, it might have been too early then)
15. Godot

I give up

I agree, maybe this is his problem ... I for my part always add the command pod as the first item of a new ship .... and it get automatically filled to capacity Or perhaps he uses mods that mess with the mechanic
16. I for my part have no problems using 1.0.4-KER with 1.0.5 The only thing is, tghat a warning is given at the start of KSP, that KER war made for 1.0.4 ... but that comes expected of course ... aside from this, no problems so far
17. You want your Kerbonauts to get paid? Why? They already get all the fame, as well as the chance to visit other planets and moons. They should pay the KSA for this chance ... not the other way round
18. I didn´t kill a single Kerbal ... all Kerbals that were killed in my games were killed by the forces of nature (like gravity induced impact with the ground, cold, heat or lack of O2)
19. Well, the actual research of fusion via shooting pallets with laserbeams isn´t new: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertial_confinement_fusion the only new thing in the patent seems to be its proposed use for propulsion purposes
20. Playing 1.0.5, as soon as it gets released
21. Hm ... Kepler still is active ... so I guess they could take K2 Campaign 9 or 10 in order to target KIC 8462852 again
22. ROFLMAO SOunds like Bill has to get out the shovel to dig it out Considering the absence of shovels and digging in Vanilla KSP however I also guess that it is a bug (I remember that the slight plasticity of the surface also caused some problems upon reloading landers in some early version of KSP [toppling landers upon reload]). Perhaps has something to do with this ... or some kind of rounding error/decimal imprecision when it comes to the altitude of surface and the part that you´ve got to retrieve
