  1. I don't think I was unclear. You've conveniently ignored the fact that the voting guidelines state not to just vote for your friend's plane, which you apparently convinced plenty of people to do. If your plane can't win honestly then it doesn't deserve to.
  2. Seems a bit less like Xeldrak can't forgive and more like you can't handle losing. Also you're ignoring the fact that you violated the guidelines outlined.
  3. Here's a plane I made a while ago that I think is perfect for this challenge. It was intended to be a replica of the Scaled Composites Proteus. Download here: http://www./?31ntwojksn4my92
  4. Jesus if you're that desperate for a fix why don't you try working one out yourself?
  5. Nothing really to report. I think the biggest problem is size. The Altair lander is 7.5 meters across, and the Ares V is 8.4 meters across. There's pretty much no way to make the sizes accurate in KSP using stock engines. The upper stage with no payload quickly becomes too heavy for even a Mainsail. Of course scaling it down like the Ares I and Orion is possible, but then the issue is building a somewhat accurate looking scaled-down Altair lander that can still fit 4 Kerbals. Although even just writing this have given me some ideas. I've got 3 exams this week, so I probably won't get much time to build anything new until the weekend, but rest assured I haven't given up yet.
  6. If he told what the challenge is, then people would start building before it had officially begun.
  7. It's certainly not quite up to Mulbin's level of excellence, but I made a stock Orion and Ares I launch vehicle here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55395-Ares-I-Delta-IV-Heavy-and-Orion-MPCV
  8. It's pointless to complain about mods not being released in what you deem a timely manner. The mod creators likely have other things going on.
  9. That sounds like a lot of fun, although I can't promise that I'll be able to devote a ton of time to it. I'm a student so I really just mess around with KSP in my free time. Right now Ares V is really kicking my (and my laptop's) ass(es). Also, because not a lot of Ares V plans were ever finalized, I'm unsure of which version to go with. There were plans for either 5 or 6 main engines, and either 1 or 2 J-2X engines on the upper stage. Also I've seen depiction of both a narrower upper stage and one that's the same diameter as the first stage.
  10. Ares V is making slow progress. Managing fuel flow on all those tanks and engines is a nightmare.
  11. Ares I has 7750 m/s of vacuum delta V in total. 2918 m/s in the first stage, 2721 m/s in the second stage, and 2111 m/s in the Orion MPCV. The EFT-1 Delta IV Heavy has a whopping 8364 m/s of vacuum delta V in total. 2017 m/s in the first stage, 2508 m/s after strap-on booster jettison, 1728 m/s in the Delta IV upper stage, and 2111 m/s in the Orion MPCV That's exactly the problem I've been having. It works alright for the Falcon 9 v1.0, but for v1.1 to be an accurate size and performance I've had to resort to clipping engines inside of engines, which is just a nightmare to deal with.
  12. I've done a bit of SpaceX inspired stuff before, but it still needs work. As for the rest of the Constellation Program, I'm not sure. It could certainly be fun to try but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. My building skill is pretty limited. The Altair lander is a possibility, but I wouldn't count on any Mars/Duna missions.
  13. Thanks! I appreciate the kinds words. I was planing on using something very similar, if not the exact same thing, yeah.
  14. 30 seconds in Paint got me this. I think it's pretty damn close. Maybe another half-sized tank would help, but that seems a tad unnecessary. Ares V is also in (very early) developmet.
  15. Funny you should mention that, I just made that change. I'll update the album/download link momentarily. I'm also currently working on SLS Block I. The LES is getting a real workout...
  16. Updated with a new Ares I. Now even more accurate!
  17. Good idea. I was using a separator and first but when it decoupled, all the fuel tanks flew off in every direction and collided with each-other. Although I suppose that would also be solved by the battery placement now. Whoops. I think the large decoupler might actually be pretty accurate though:
  18. Ares I launch vehicle carrying the Orion spacecraft: Ares V heavy lift rocket. Updated 0.23.5 version coming soon. Delta IV Heavy and Orion in EFT-1 configuration. Remember to take the crew out before launching, as this is an unmanned test flight. Downloads: Ares I: http://www./download/aejhuhjsbqe9ld5/Ares+I.craft Ares V : coming soon Delta IV Heavy (EFT-1 Configuration): http://www./download/4br1h1o38dkmro6/Exploration+Flight+Test+1.craft Action groups for flying: 1: Toggle Orion MPCV solar arrays 2: Jettison LES 3: Deploy parachutes Abort: Decouple capsule, activate LES engines
  19. I tried it a while ago, but I agree, I'd love to see what Mulbin can do.
  20. No rush, just would love to check out the amazing construction in a bit more detail.
  21. Any chance you'd want to post your .craft files to MediaFire?
