  1. Any news on when the SSTU craft files repository is going to get updated? I just wanted to use a Soyuz in my game and used the normal build from 1.0.5 and it's failing now (where it didn't previously). Did you rename parts in the 1.1.2 build?
  2. So the other day I was thinking it's still a pain to find the part you want when I noticed the search box over the top of the parts. I was gobsmacked. When did that get added? I think part of me subconciously KNEW that there wasn't a search box so edited it out of my vision or something. All I know is that whoever added the darn thing I need to shout out THANK YOU VERY MUCH - YOU'RE AWESOME at the top of my lungs. Oh and ironically, when I searched for anything about it on here... the search engine failed to find anything on the other search engine. Probably inter-search-engine-competition at work.
  3. Ahh... thanks for the info... It's been bugging me for ages. Sometimes it worked... other times it acted like a space anchor and other times like a damned blimp. Was driving me bonkers. As I use tweakscale to cut down on the number of parts I need I think I use it loads more than FAR affects my play... so FAR goes byebye sadly. But good news seems to be that the flight model seems a lot better than it used to be anyway so that's good.
  4. For some reason, sometimes when I attach stuff to wings or attach aerodynamic surfaces to my planes I find it causes them to just float away when I go to launch... Like this... Does anyone have a clue what is causing this... I have a bunch of mods installed and have tried to track it down before now but because it is hit and miss with it happening I can't nail what is causing this. Edit: Hmmm... Looks like it is FAR causing the problems. Must not like one of my other mods....
  5. Hmmmm.... If the ISS is a lie and nobody has ever been to space then I would so love to ask the guy what is the definition of a religious astronaut like Buzz Aldrin is. Plus all those rockets fired off... where the heck did they go? And how does GPS work. Oooh... I know... Scientists worked out how to log into God's Positioning System.
  6. Was nothing political about it... only that I now understood why it happened. Plus this forum title says " Off-duty chatter on any topic except KSP ".
  7. Just accidentally clicked on this video the other day and OMG.... THERE REALLY ARE STILL FLAT EARTHERS OUT THERE. [snip] There really are some idiots out there. *gobsmacked*
  8. Thanks for a wonderful game Felipe... one I will probably still be playing for many, many years. I don't think I have played any other game as much as I have played KSP. I've seen it grow from humble beginnings to this beast that is still growing strong now. Good luck for the future.
  9. HOLY *BLEEEP*. Thanks for the heads up LGTM. I can't believe I missed out on these mods... The SSTU parts look really nice. Thank god for 64bit that at least lets you load more stuff. Missing out on the Procedural Parts atm as I usually use that for making all my tanks (saves having multiple tanks that are almost identical). I probably missed out on the other mods because I use PP.
  10. I used to use Bobcat's American Pack back in the day... but it seems that it got forgotten about. Most of his mods were damned awesome. But now I've got the urge to fly the Orion again and I cannot find a good one that is compatible with 1.0.5 let alone 1.1.2. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Thanks.
  11. I think almost everyone had problems with doing encounters at the beginning. I thought it was going to be my most hated part of the game... right until I realised it was all about relative velocities. Then it became really good fun. Like others have said, Scott Manly is the one for tutorials (even the old ones still are apt as orbital mechanics don't change with version numbers heh). This is the video that actually taught me to rendezvous and dock...
  12. I have several joysticks, a 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Pro Wireless, a modded Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS setup, all metal custom built Slaw Device F-16 rudder pedals, keyboard, Logitech trackball, and a partridge in a pear tree. My big rebind started when I got fed up of hitting space by accident and breaking a perfectly workable spacecraft. So I changed return into stage and used the spacebar to cut all thrust. Then I swapped control and shift because flight simulator mode means shifting down means the nose comes up and pulling on the throttle means it should go faster. After building and flying a bunch of flight sim cockpits it's just muscle memory now... Then I started making custom controllers and then got setup... then I bought things like a Leo Bodnar input board (my fifth) just to make an Apollo-esque landing pod and all these had to be setup for the game.... and so on and so forth... AND THEN IT GOT WIPED. Grrrr... I could kick myself heh. Oh well, that's the Kerbal way after all.
  13. Eeek... but... err... isn't that normal for when Jeb flies anything... I await this update with baited breath. It's ironic that every time I think of Procedural Wings that an update to KSP turns up. I use Procedural Parts all the time. I just keep forgetting about the wings. Oh and any chance of adding optional Ablative Surfaces to the wings when you get around to fixing this.
  14. Ahhh... I might be badmouthing the devs when it was a glitch in the update process because the launcher now does the following... Eeek. Full install needed by the looks of things.... DAMN!
  15. So I remember using the launcher to patch to 1.1.1 from 1.1.0 and the settings.cfg wasn't nuked.... Unfortunately 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 nuked it completely it seems... It's annoying because I hate having to go through and reset all my keybindings YET AGAIN. Why is it that the devs can alter specific bits of binary files but not be able to alter specific bits of text files that need changing. With all my controllers and keybindings I now have to go through each and every one again and reset them to the the same darn settings. I saved the settings.cfg before updating via the launcher from 1.1.0 (as normal). But because it was working flawlessly up to now I didn't this time because I thought the devs had finally figured out they didn't need to replace it each and every time... and the kraken bit me in the ass. Oh well... Will have to dig see if I can dig out an old settings.cfg and do it manually once again. And next time I won't bother with the stupid updater and do it manually. Anyone else wish the game didn't force you to reset your settings.cfg for your controllers and keybindings every time a new update arrives?
  16. I really think KSP would fall in support if Ferram vanished. Considering I love both KSP and FAR (and KJR) I propose that we must digitise his brain ASAP.
  17. The freedom to do whatever you want. Freedom to career, science or sandbox... the freedom to stock or mod to insane levels... the freedom to fly rockets or planes... the freedom to save Kerbals or blow them to smithereens... the freedom to stick around Kerbin or go to the farthest ends of the solar system... basically just freedom... but maybe not Freedom by Wham!
  18. Let me ask you about Lego sets. That is basically a simplified brick system. How much does one kit cost... AND YOU HAVE TO PUT IT TOGETHER YOURSELF... Yup, Lego is very basic and all that is is plastic part which you have to assemble (just like KSP)... yet it costs loads more compared to KSP. If you want to add more to your first Lego model you have to buy more kits... and more... and more. With KSP you just download mods from the community. You don't just get part packs from the community, you get utilities too. AND you can make your own, if you so choose. I guess you could 3D print lego blocks but they would be poor copies at best. So which is the best value for money here? KSP or Lego? KSP is fun, cheap to expand on, and educational. Yes, Squad haven't finished it yet but that is because they are constantly improving on it. It's like complaining that World of Warcraft or Eve Online isn't exactly the same as it was on day one. Or maybe why was ANY game given a sequel. Squad wants to give us the best possible game. Most games are going for $40-$60 now (including Lego games). Previous price for KSP was the early access price and if you missed that then it was really your own fault for not buying it then. I've kicked myself for missing sales before now but I didn't blame the ones selling the item. It's my fault for not buying it at the lower price. I personally like the game. If you find it too expensive you could just stay with the demo until you can afford it. There is still a demo, isn't there? Edit: P.s... I love Lego too heh.
  19. I know what you mean about constant updates. Seems every time I turn on my PS4 it won't let me play until I update it again... drives me nuts. I think 1.1 was so problematic due to the upgrade to Unity 5 and all the gui rewrites. I think we only get bad updates when Unity versions change. Yeah, we get bugs every update but not this many as normal so I really don't blame Squad. I quite literally stopped playing The Division because of the number of bugs in that game and the crap way the devs there handled all the hacking and glitching. That's nothing like how Squad have handled everything... they have to be one of the best for support out there. But I am waiting with baited breath for all the mods to catch up now because the game runs sooooooo damned quick now that I just want to see what will actually begin to bog this install down... this performance update is so pronounced.
  20. The problem you had getting those wing surfaces to attach to that vertical stabiliser is because you are trying to attach it to a moving part. Instead of using a tail you used a canard which only has the bottom bit which doesn't move and the game thinks that is the only place you can attach parts to.
  21. Hi ghost_sox... Welcome to the forum and PLEASE... please don't think this is just one of those games that you play for a while and then never play again. You only need to see the activity on these forums to see that players have been here for a while... do you think that a game made by an indie would keep their community going for this long without the game being fun and addictive. You have to look at a game like COD... how much does a single map pack cost (on top of the price of the game). Then look at KSP. I personally have been playing almost non-stop since 2013 (thanks to the wonderful Nerdcubed video). Just look at this video and then look at what KSP is today... AND THEN tell me that this game is not worth $40 (note: KSP starts at 6:45 in the video below).
  22. Yeah... new problems for sure... One of my mods is messing up manoeuvre points... dunno which one though so it's removing them one by one. Thank god KSP starts WAYYYYY faster now. It's like I've bought a brand new PC. Got so used to starting KSP then going off to do something else while it loads up all those mods. Yeah... even though problems I'm REALLY loving the new speed.
  23. So 1.1.1 is here... and part of me is going "ARRRGHH... BROKEN MODS" and getting frustrated because my build no longer works right while another part of me is going "WOOHOO... WHAT'S CHANGED?" and is wanting to dive in and start all over again. I really don't know whether do be depressed (busted mods) or ecstatic (new fixes). Personally I love coming back to KSP and admiring the fresh paint over the old recycled, battered and dented spacecraft that Jeb had previously left in a crater (as usual). It really makes the whole game new again (at least it does for me). I don't think I will ever play a game as addictive as KSP. Even when I get over it for a while I always seem to come back and end up obsessing about it again. So how do you feel when a new update arrives?
  24. Which mods adds the runway additions and the radio inner/middle/outer marker beeps? I use FAR and RPM so I am guessing that it's NavUtilities that is doing the work.
