  1. Is it possible to change the vehicle icons? OrbitIcons_Ship.png, ship.png and Ship.dds in /GameData/ChangeIcons/Default. And putting the directory locations in ChangeIcons.cfg. But none seem to work.
  2. Changed the Name to Ship.png and it still doesn't work. Maybe wrong file type or settings? Tried png and dds.
  3. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but the ship icon doesn't change when I put ship.png in /GameData/ChangeIcons/Default/?
  4. Are there any mods that change map vehicle icons? Or a way I can change the color of the icons?
  5. Sorry for the lack of post, I've been too busy the passed year to even play KSP let alone work on this mod. I'm debating if I should continue or let someone else take over this mod. I'm leaning more towards someone else taking over, so if someone wants to they can.
  6. EDIT: Looked around the KSP bug tracker and it seems Unity3D requires pulseadio. Fixed it by using kspflo's pulsenomore program. Origional post: When starting KSP.x86_64 it shows a black screen and then just crashes. In therminal it says this: The player.log says this:
  7. I'm looking at the 1.1 version now to get Hullcam working on it. Edit: Uploaded a test version for 1.1 to curse: Download V0.52
  8. Why not? That was a much complexer machine.
  9. But there is 1 rule more important in manned spaceflight than any other rule: safety.
  10. It already has 2 different system and besides what the problem of have 2 sets of parachutes? Your reasoning about 1 failing and the other failing in the same way is very unlikely, even more so if it's an outside cause. Yes, that's why I said planning and not going to on the first flights.
  11. It's one of those things where one says "I wish we had a back up" when all main chutes fail. SpaceX is planing to land the Dragon 2 propulsively with the SuperDracos, so it's fulfilling 3 roles for the weight of one system. I have no idea what the weight save is but it's I think it's a fair amount replacing replacing 3 systems with one.
  12. If an in flight abort happens, which means they can't land with the SuperDraco's, and the chutes don't work then back up chutes are very welcome. It's common practice for parachutist, so why not for a capsule? And there is enough time to deploy the back up chutes if the main chutes fail to deploy, it's something which can easily be detected by the onboard computer and some sensors.
  13. In this interview Elon says that the Dragon 2 will have redundant and redundant chutes, although he talks about 3 main chutes:
  14. Yeah, and besides it's going to have a back up set too. It would need 8 compartments and 8 drogue chutes if the parachutes were stored separately and it would increase complexity.
  15. The point about the mech is that it's a huge target, complex and requires huge amounts of energy. Also there is no need to build a mech because we have more capable and cost effective vehicle around. Where as the tank is basically an armored car with a canon mounted on it. Now think about space, why would you want to put something there to fight something else? There's no reason to defend or attack a place in space because there's enough room and resources to avoid others. And again it would take huge amount of energy to get to your target, let alone close enough to it.
  16. It all depends on the TWR the more efficient propulsion has. Sure ion has a too low TWR and would take ages, but something like NERVA could do the transger with 2 or 3 burns, which might end up just adding a few days. Which is not a lot over a 6-9 month trip.
  17. But that's not a space battle and most likely wont happen, unless the country the scientist work for is actually a dictatorship. Whens the last time your country sent in fully armored personal to subdue unwilling government employees? The thing is that you need something in space the have a space battle.
  18. There is how ever logic in what types of army crafts we create. That's why we have tanks instead of giant mechs.
  19. Also cost what? Do you mean reduced cost, how would that work if you increase the nr. of parachutes?
  20. It's not a rocket which is going to replace the Falcon 9 or the Falcon Heavy but a rocket to transport people to Mars.
  21. Information about SpaceX' new rocket and spacecraft(commonly know as BFR and MCT) will be revealed in September at the International Aeronautical Congress. Elon also mention they plan to send the first people to Mars in 2025.
  22. Earth: "We will get you martians.... as soon as the next transfer window... and 6 months travel time... We'll get you!" It would require too money and resources to wage a war in space, let alone between planets.
  23. Really? You think it would go like this: Martians: "We don't want to be controlled by Earth, we have our own planet now!" Earth: "We will have none of that!" Martians: "Well what are you going to do about it?" Earth: "We declare interplanetary war!" Martians: "Bring it, we'll fight you in Martian orbit!" Unless we invent an extremely efficient engine, we'll never send a whole army of spaceships to fight anywhere in space. And if we are smart to invent such an engine then I hope we are smart enough to not wage war.
