  1. Where are you trying to land that thing!? Your skycrane is huge. You've got way more power and fuel than you need. Atmospheric: Vacuum or thin atmosphere: Edit... and I fail on 2 counts... 1 not noticing this thread is old... and 2 not noticing it was really long as well.

  3. all of the above. You can see some of them from low orbit. Their locations are well publicized online. I bumped into one on accident while roving around the Mun.
  4. yep... just like that. My second "landing" is a bit more visually interesting.
  5. Bases... anywhere. I've designed some things and tested them on Kerbin but I've yet to send them out to colonize the planets. To do that I'll have to put some refueling stations around the worlds first. That I have done around Kerbin and the Mun and don't expect it to be too much harder to get them to their destination. I haven't done any "there and back again" missions. I also don't plan on doing any of them. I'm not interested in only visiting the planets... I want to go and stay. I haven't been to all the Easter eggs. I have been to one of the Mun arches... completely on accident. I have not gotten a plane off the ground. ... I have run many planes into the ocean...
  6. I only see one asas... and no sas to provide the torque needed. I also see almost no RCS... not massive RCS... woefully inadequate RCS.
  7. Yeah the dev blogs... I tend to miss those. I haven't found a button at the top for dev blogs... the blogs button is all blogs... and dev blogs just get buried.
  8. Could you link that video? I haven't seen it and haven't seen it linked in any official communication (though I don't check Reddit or facebook) If they don't say something here on the forum in an article or release a link on their twitter feed I don't see it.
  9. what? He's got liquid fuel and liquid fuel engines. There is no such thing as solid fuel motors that don't come with solid fuel already attached to them. As far as engine blocking goes... To my knowledge that only happens when you have something physically attached to the engine blocking it. Engine exhaust can cause damage to things down stream of it though. If things aren't exploding when you activate your engines then you're alright in that regard. .78 TWR... I think is your problem. If that isn't greater than 1 then you're going to fail at reducing your speed to 0.

  11. That's about the saves being broken. .Craft files have nothing in them about the crew. That doesn't happen until you go to launch... Nothing they have said about what will be in the update indicates that the ship designs will be unable to be copied over. Obviously you'd have to copy them over manually. But... in that post he did mention that they were going to tweak other things... and that some or all of those things would be talked about soon. Those unknown things might effect .craft files or they might not. I don't anticipate that they will but we shall see.

  13. I do not anticipate an issue with this. Anything can happen... I just don't expect there to be any problem transferring stock .craft files.
  14. I plan on moving my designs over. Shouldn't be any reason why the list of parts and what they're connected to should change with this update so... But we'll see what happens. I backed them up just to make sure they didn't get deleted during the update.
  15. hmm. well... that's cool. ... but I guess it does mean you'll have to rescan the planet... IF it changes significantly.

  17. They're adding features that are important to campaign mode. These features get added to sand box as well. I'm assuming you didn't read the whole thread... here:
  18. I'm pretty sure it doesn't... it doesn't detect anomalies. The anomalies are programed into it by the mod creators. They have a master "data set" map of the planet that they then use your altitude to calculate how much of it your craft would reveal. It's not sending out any beams of any sort.
  19. I should think so... Doesn't the way ISA work is... it's got a pre-generated map for each planet and just reveals parts of it as your craft flys over? It's not actually mapping... and any changes in the planets wouldn't be reflected until the creators of the mod update their maps... and you download the latest version...
  20. very very interesting. I've been holding off doing anything significant during .20 because... well I'm really waiting for resources. And this just adds another reason. I've been designing ... and testing things in LKO... making plans... for the future.

  22. .20 broke my .19 They've said that they are trying to make it so updates don't break saves. But with so many mods out there... they can't be certain. I had an old mod installed that I forgot about since I didn't use it... So when .20 came out I opened up my game and none of the stock parts were loaded. I went to the tracking station... BIG mistake. since none of the stock parts were loaded... going to the tracking station deleted all my ships... I couldn't get .20 to work properly until I deleted the old mod. Then all the stock parts were loaded... but my missions were all gone... So they try... but they can't foresee everything.
  23. Ground scatter... the rocks... He's writing more interesting things to be among the random rocks that currently are in the game. At least that's how I interpret it.
  24. No... I don't. On a well designed laptop there should be no issue. If you have a poorly designed laptop... with heat management problems... The system safeties should shut your system down before any damage can be done. I play on a Desktop... with a massive heat sink and SSDs... So I have no worries at all. Laptops... are not well suited to gaming... even ones "designed for gaming" Everything is just too close together. I don't mean that they will always have problems but high end games will cause a laptop to become uncomfortably warm... They do make cooling platforms for laptops. you might try one of those.
  25. um... you've got the difference of DV of the capsules... not the Kerbals... The Cupola only holds one Kerbal... same as the lander can... Launch the Mk3 but take a Kerbal out and compare the difference if any. Then you'll have the DV cost of a Kerbal.
