  1. KW Rocketry heavy seperatrons. I hate leaving junk in orbit. I did, however, just discover the TAC self destruct mod.
  2. Love your Proton! Used it (with some help from KW Rocketry) to get this 42-ton monster of a space station part into orbit:
  3. At least in the wikipedia entry for the Soviet lunar program (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_manned_lunar_programs) the craft they use are green rather.
  4. It *works* but it's designed for a specific rover (Lunokhod-1 by Bobcat) which doesn't work very well and is not at all modular. The Space Factory Luna-17 doesn't work well with anything else.
  5. How about a Luna-17, at least? I HATE HATE HATE having to build some weird, unrealistic rover lander.
  6. Just out of curiosity, are most of the people posting here from Europe? I don't tend to see anyone else posting at the same time I am (I am in the US). It seems like there is a flurry of activity on here after I go to bed.
  7. Already been done (very well, I might add): http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24867-FASA-Oct-7th-25-Release-v4-98 This is really a good companion mod to go with Tantares.
  8. Dammit! Now I have to restart my career! At least now I can totally get rid of HGR. The only real reason I held onto it was for the spherical capsule.
  9. I for one am far more interested in stuff that hasn't really been done before. I would like to see a proper Lunokhod/Luna before seeing a whole lot of rockets. Rovers are becoming much more interesting contract wise, but are SO neglected.
  10. I'm thinking we shouldn't focus as much on the rockets as a lot of them can be built from other packs. The Energia can be built (pretty closely) using KW Rocketry.
  11. I would say, rather, make optional dependencies. This mod can benefit from a lot of different mods (Interstellar or LTech come to mind for station science). However, I agree that that is not everyone's cup of tea. Perhaps keep a group of mod manager files, for example, that can inject interoperability.
  12. Tried a Vostok style mission with Vanguard parachutes. Jeb bailed out at about 15,000 m. Quite a bit different than my traditional reentry. Fun!
  13. .... ..... I can't wait to try it out. You're going to cause me to restart my career, you know! I'm gonna have to send the first Kerbin into space with the proper hardware.
  14. I strapped a bunch of Thor (KW Rocketry) boosters to my ALV in an attempt to launch a 24 ton station core into orbit. I wonder if anyone from NASA ever thinks "Well, this will get it into orbit if it doesn't blow up on the launchpad." Edit: It did make it with flying colors, by the way. That has become my go to super-heavy 2.5m rocket.
  15. Sorry, gonna have to skip this version. I'm using the science lab and love it. I did, however, rewrite the config file before using it, so that may have fixed the problem without me realizing there was one. If anyone wants it (it is integrated with the LTech mod and has the same functionality as the science station), and I have Beale's permission, I'll post a link to my modified config.
  16. Hmm...I don't have any issues with the Salyut parts. I have a station in orbit now with a modified science module (integrated with LTech station science). I do, however, have problems with the antennae, but I don't remember having any issues with them until after I uninstalled remotetech.
  17. I would like to see that but I imagine it's a bit too complicated. Plus, you can currently (sort-of) have the same thing happen with Vanguard tech: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/25305-0-25-Vanguard-Technologies-EVA-parachutes-23!-24!-25!-(Dec-30) Maybe next you can build Lunokhod and Luna-17?
  18. How does Bobcat's Soyuz do it? It does the proper "Korolev cross." One thing I would stress is to NOT start mirroring Bobcat. His parts are very very good, but are designed to go together in a certain way with certain other parts. They are not modular in the least. That would be one of the few criticisms I would have with a Vostok/Voskhod/Soyuz rocket.
  19. According to Wikipedia, it's the same outside diameter. I think the Soviets just stripped a lot of interior out in order to stuff three men into it. Also, could we maybe expect a rocket to go along with it? Edit: Here's an interesting article that talks about how they used the airlock on Voskhod-2 (http://www.wired.com/2013/01/gemini-extravehicular-planning-group-1965/)
  20. Yay! I'm such a trendsetter! I do love the Soviet space program. Being from the US it doesn't get much credit here. The idea of using the same basic rockets for fifty years straight (Soyuz and Proton) is apparently abhorent to NASA.
  21. I didn't have a problem with Scansat, but It did disable all of TAC life support's functionality.
  22. Now that you mention it, yea, it's just the Soyuz that's the same. Not to sound like a brown-noser, but your stuff is better quality (and is much more modular).
  23. Tantares and HGR are similar projects, but HGR is built to utilize it's own 1.85m rocket size and doesn't fit very well on either 1.25m or 2.5m. The 1.85m stuff is also a bit overpowered IMHO. I wouldn't mind seeing this turn into an updated (sort-of) version of Bobcat's Soviet pack. That was done really really well but it was way OP for when you got the parts in the tree and were built to only be put together a certain way. I like the way things are done here where my Salyut station can have a section added to in the middle, for example. I would really like to see a bit more station parts as the only mod I have found that does Soviet style space stations is the KOSMOS mod and it's horribly obsolete and hard on the RAM. That being said, this mod has become one of my permanent mods for when I do re-installs.
  24. There has been one Vostok released, but the internals were screwed up, it was intended for use with Bobcat's rockets (too large for 1.25m), and it was never updated to use the techtree. Home Grown Rockets has a spherical orbiter in the same vein, but doesn't have the accouterments. Another thing to possibly build is the Voskhod capsule which was Vostok's successor. Really the two are rather similar, but Voskhod was a two-manned capsule and was designed to parachute to Earth rather than have the Cosmonauts eject from it like the did from Vostok. KSP is rather lacking in two-manned capsules, I think. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voskhod_(spacecraft) The only issue is that the Soviets used and reused the same designs over and over and over, making a Soviet program a tad bit boring.
  25. I modified the soyuz orbital module so that it could serve as a stand-in for a Vostok-1 style mission. Would it be OK to post a link to the modification in case other people want it?
