  1. Add 0.625m escape system for MK I capsule. Add tiny size rocket engine with integrated tiny fuel tank, to fit MK I capsule as "retropack", and call this new engine "Glenn".
  2. Even if you would be able to send something in orbit... SETI will know it when this satellite will communicate with ground station. You just reminded me about this... this plane was going up with huge, as for airliner, speed? That is maneuver I often use in KSP with strato-like-launch Now what if it was just a attempt to send something on orbit? Plane was not important, so it could crash in ocean after payload went higher.
  3. But we don't know all laws of physics and we are not 100% sure that those we know, we understand correctly.
  4. I got new name for this game... Kerbal Spaceplane Program
  5. Energy I've noticed there is technological gap between OX-STAT solar panels and panels that track sun. We could have two new parts based on HG-5 High Gain Antenna animation. Instead of antenna on the end put solar panel (circular and triangular), they wouldn't be able to track the sun. Next thing is wind turbine, since we have drills that require lots of energy and we want them to work at night, we could use at least one small wind turbine. Making PB-NUK Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator larger version for 1.25m would also be nice. Geothermal energy would be great to have on few planets, it can be heavy and large part, but it would add 24/7 energy source to the game. Z-400 Rechargeable Battery are small, IMO we need 800, 1600, 3200 radially mounted batteries. Wheels https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecanum_wheel lots of people in here would make real wonders with those wheels Communication Current antennas and communication system is easy and lets keep it that way. For harder and more realistic game play we could have laser communication systems that would require visibility between devices. Failures I was thinking about random failures that would add to the game, but not make it frustrating and there are minor game mechanics that may break randomly to makes things harder, but they won't break your mission. Solar panels - they could have malfunction in sun tracking system, this would require engineer to repair them, but you could keep going with your mission without repairs. Antennas - they could lose their ability to relay signal, this one could break your mission if you have single antenna per relay satellite. But making critical systems double/backup is good idea in space flights Lights - it is not critical system Wheels - motor malfunction, you can go further on other 3 motors, but you will go slower. Engines - broken alternator or Thrust vectoring won't make your rocket crash, but it will make your mission harder
  6. Sure, but they didn't had reading live driving 30m/s
  7. We have Longitude and Latitude in game visible since day 1, IMO we should have access to GPS only if we are in range of GPS satellites/transmitters. This would require one new part "GPS module" for GPS satellites, no additional part on vehicle (probe core would solve it with new feature). If your craft is in range of at least 2-3 GPS satellites then you can see Longitude and Latitude. Depends on orbit (range from our craft) of GPS satellites we could have different accuracy (degrees, minutes, seconds). In career mode it would give us new contracts "cover area X with GPS". Sometimes GPS module could fail and it would require to be serviced by engineer. Repairs should be possible only from command seat and craft equipped with "spare parts box". This mechanic could be used for lots of new things for example drills could also fail from time to time...
  8. Compare prices for private made rocket like Falcon 9 vs any government made rocket... which is cheaper? Fact is that government doesn't have money at all, every single dollar spent by government is taken from private wallet, so government can not stimulate economy in any way What government is doing is manual control of money flow from your pocket to part of industry politician likes. Government only can transfer money from one branch of industry to another, from your wallet to NASA wallet, there is no money FROM government. That is like manual steering of water in river, you can do it and you can turn water in whatever direction you want to, but that is definitely not cheap nor needed. Because water in river is like flow of human needs, it is self driven and it always takes "cheapest" path. When government is steering flow of water they also drink "a bit" of it as payment for doing their job, so in the end you have smaller stream, flowing in direction of politician needs. In the end if you steer manually flow of human needs you end up hurting some branches of industry and promoting not needed part of industry. That is why we still doesn't have base or even space station on the Moon orbit, because governments world wide, for the last 50 years, took manual control over space sector... instead we have lots of banks.
  9. If only purpose of job is to keep it running then it is waste of money? And if we look at any democratic country, we will see that any government driven agency is to just keep running and make prices super high. Exceptions are government agencies in China, but they have no democracy, so I am starting to see pattern in this...
  10. Maybe not right away, but if SpaceX can do same or almost same job, but cheaper... then Orion will be history pretty fast. Question is what would you have to add to Dragon v2 to have capabilities similar to Orion? In both capsules you have crew locked inside "can", if SpaceX made their capsule easy to upgrade they could use parts of Dragon that wouldn't had to be changed at all? Are there any available cross-sections and descriptions about differences between Dragon and Orion?
  11. 5. CIA had agent inside... Russians closed their program because saying "we were infiltrated" was worse than saying "we quit". 6. Russians didn't wanted to go to Moon, because it was stupid idea to go there just for the show and they blew up their rocket to have excuse for shutting down program.
  12. I like plane parts and I would want to like rocket parts as much as I like plane parts. Parts for underwater exploration would also be fine addition, of course after new rocket parts. I've made few suggestions about electric propellers...
  13. Guys water and submarine is part of space program, since exploring other planets also means explore oceans on other planets. If you doesn't like idea of exploring underwater biomes in KSP then you should vote for remove water from all planets and moons.
  14. Laws of physics are not set in stone, they are only our understanding of how world works today. Our understanding may be wrong at many points and over time we can create new "laws" when we learn more.
  15. https://www.masterresource.org/climate-sensitivity-climate-change/nano-climate-change-an-issue-for-industrial-wind/ So we have few hours per day higher temperature by ~2C I only hope they calculated that into global warming models and average temperature readings. Change in 2C for few hours per day affect average temperature by about 0.4C, which is seen as inevitable disaster by global warming fanatics caused by CO2 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2012/apr/29/wind-farms-night-temperatures-study http://www.ucsusa.org/clean-energy/renewable-energy/environmental-impacts-wind-power#.WCsaK7VVK1E Really guys you should try to find something... even on wiki you have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_impact_of_wind_power Which means turbines are changing farm-land into deserts, since such change in temperature levels also affects rain levels over the area.
  16. It changes micro-climate in factor of a lot larger than CO2! They are not safe, since they destroy micro-climate near wind turbines, what is affecting water vapour and this gas is much more dangerous than 0.0003% of CO2 produced by our industry
  17. Looks like clean energy is not so clean and not so safe for environment after all... http://phys.org/news/2016-11-large-scale-energy-turbine-efficiencies.html
  18. Also in carrier mode if asteroid hits KSC it should create large crater and be game over. Craters locations could be saved in "save file", so we would have permanent impact of asteroid hits on entire solar system
  19. We have tweakable called "authority" set to 100% on Control surfaces, but we can increase that to 150%... now what if we could have same mechanic for engines and we could overload them up to 150% (or 125% if first idea is too much)? While they are overloaded they should overheat much much faster.
  20. I've said this for years... and they had to make study to confirm such simple thing... http://phys.org/news/2016-11-criteria-funding-bad-science.html
  21. It should be limited by frequency of field that is generated by em-drive.
  22. IF you consider space as particle, then you don't have to eject any particles from your engine, all you have to do is to create field that will push way from those space-particles, same as submarine engine is pushing away from water particles. Em-drive has nothing to do with free energy, to power it up you need lots of energy.
