"Duna, Ore Bust!" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (COMPLETE)

Credit where due, I'm pretty sure I got the latter from Geschosskopf's Elcano Challenge report. I couldn't remember what he called the mountains, almost PM'd him as I was having trouble coming up with anything :)

Well kudos to whomever made what up, I'm just glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that or I would've needed a new keyboard... 😄

The End. I have been following this since the beginning, and it is truly a webcomic to be remembered. The making of this comic is an inspirational story of how the everyman can make a webcomic of the quality of Eddsworld. Thank you, Kuzzter. And remember this, VIVE LA SCIENCE!!!!caps

This has been an incredible ride, thanks Kuzzter! I am sad to see this one end, but happy to be seeing Eve's get revisited. I'm hoping to see more of these four again in some rescue adventures. :D

Also, I used your method for guessing at aerobreak altitudes of different bodies since you posted it. Based on the online formulas, you had the altitude and the scale height reciprocated, but if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have ever thought to use it at all! See you in the E:O0!

Anyway, a great conclusion to this series. Congrats on getting the Humblebee home alive, snatching it repeatedly from the jaws of the Kraken.

I tell ya, if it weren't for Bill this might have been over a long time ago. Merci, mon frere Acadien!

Well done! I am relieved about the situation, great work! I give my rep to a random person in these pages since you cannot have anymore...!:D
Thank you! Lots of other great comics around here now that need your rep!
It's been a long journey.

Glad we didn't go burney. [snip]

Quite a tribute, Sharkman--could it make an appearance as a Kerbfleet shanty someday? We'll see :)

Awwww... what a great read!

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you top it, as I'm sure you will-- BTW I took some close shots and different angles in those last few pages after seeing same in your work :)

It has been a privilege, a great pleasure, and uncountable laughs accompanying you, Val, Jeb, Bill, and Lisa on this journey.

Kerbfleet forever!

You, my friend, have been a fantastic supporter from the beginning. I always knew I could count on you for a kind word when I needed to read one. Thank you!

I can't rep you yet, but thanks for the ride anyway! Also, technically, it's airbrakes (if you're talking about that kind of part in general) or A.I.R.B.R.A.K.E.S. (if you're talking about the specific part.)
You're most welcome! And yes I know, I guess I'm trying to have it both ways...after all we can say either USA or U.S.A., right? It's just a question of style choice when using an acronym.
how do you did the last scene? :D

Throught the magic of Powerpoint! I lined up the four of them, quicksaved, then reloaded four times. Each time I recovered three Kerbals and made the fourth walk, taking screenshots. Then I took the four poses I liked best, cropped and removed backgrounds from three of them, pasted those three in position next to the fourth, and that was that. Also note the Kerbfleet stuff on the Recovery screen are NOT a mod (thought maybe somebody will make it someday!), the ranks and promotion messages are all done by hand in Ppt.

If that sounds tough, you should hear what I was GOING to do for that last scene.

It ended? *sniff* BUT WHAT ABOUT AIRPLANE REFERENCES?!?!? WAHHHHHA!

Seriously, wonderful job. It's really nice to see someone relatively new to the forums start a thread that becomes so well-known, and really popular. You've made your mark, and E:O0 only makes it more indelible.

Quite a ride indeed. Thanks so much for putting this together, and please tell me you've got something lined up to follow up eve order zero...

Thanks guys! It's been fun, and don't worry E:O0 will not be the last book--I have Big Plans for Kerbfleet in 1.1 and beyond!

As to the Airplane references, there'll be one in the next page I post, I promise :)

Kuzzter, I wanted to thank you again so I wrote this tribute. Hope you like it.

The Flight of the Hummlebee (to the tune of 'A Modern Major General').

Well, Wernher Kerman said to Kerbfleet "Gentlekerbs, we have a ship,"

"A destination (Duna), and a crew so we should take a trip."

"Since mining and refining is designed into the Hummlebee,"

"They'll bring back all of Duna's science and unlock the whole tech tree."

Said Gene "We'll need this scanner, for the mission codenamed "Red Rock One,"

"So Jeb and Lisa bring back science from the surface of the ... Mun."

Jeb jumped Gene's countdown. Gene was mad, but Munhopper was now in flight.

Sighed Gene "Well, just bring back the science. Better hurry, window's tight."

Now, Jeb was calm and cocky, Lisa awed and also terrified,

While venting snacks inside her helmet she did not enjoy the ride.

With bingo fuel Munhopper landed, then rolled down a crater slope.

So Jeb used RCS to brake or his good ship would have no hope.

The Flight Director calmly laid out all the steps that they had planned.

How Jeb was shocked when first he heard that Val was told to take command.

"Jeb is the very model of a modern Majer in the air,"

"But deep in space we need precision, Val will take the Kaptin's Chair."

Munhopper lifted off and flew, reentered, splashed down safe and sound.

With crew and science, all recovered. Back at KSC they found...

A brand new Mk2 Hummlebee was in the hangar waiting there,

Atop the orange Knight. Moments later ship and crew were in the air.

The Orange Knight carried Hummlebee to 40 k, detached, was lost,

While Mort was back at KSC lamenting all the funds it cost.

Now, Val and Bill on Minmus surface, were stuck in old debris they found.

Their plan was stymied, Bill was clever, they flew to Minmus Outbound.

Val plotted transfers while Bill sang, Jeb burned to make the rendezvous.

With crew united, hit the window, burned for Duna right on cue.

While in deep space they hibed and all the work and talk and song did cease.

The interlude was introduced and Kuzzter wrote more masterpiece.

They woke to plan the capture burn, Bill showed he's just as smart as Bob.

With Jeb's BadSness, Val's assistance, pilot teamwork did the job.

The Hummlebee touched ground and bounced, the VTOL engines saved the rep,

Our crew had landed, KSC cheered, now to take their first small step.

Well, Val and Jeb flew, Lisa scienced, Bill refined some ethanol,

While kerbals bonded with the readers, Kuzzter broke through the fourth wall.

They mined, refined, and gathered science, through each biome they did traverse.

When suddenly a great disturbance swept through the whole Kerbalverse.

Now Jeb was eager and said "Burn!" despite Bill's voicing his concern,

Port wing lift then just disappeared, but they were saved by Jeb's left turn.

With Val unhappy Jeb's ascent plan, which was just "B T Z Whooo!",

Gave their orbit inclination, still she found Ike rendezvous.

On Ike they landed, mined, and fuelled. Then they did a biome hop.

As Lisa crewed her instruments they gathered science every stop.

With mainstrut spliced, while crewmates sang, Bill's thoughts to the maneuver turned,

With Val's misgivings set aside, the Hummlebee for Kerbin burned.

The final interlude was shown, we saw the orangesuits as cadets,

With no right answer, simulations may lead to command regrets.

With Lisa's growth and confidence, a kerbal musical transition,

Finally Bill's k-mails back to base laid bare his dark suspicion.

Their homecoming came with surprise, a sudden change of destination.

"Set your peri at 400, burn for Micarooni Station."

The Hummlebee was short on fuel, could not match the trajectory,

So Enzin Kenlie to the rescue, Kranefly met the Hummlebee.

Kranefly burned and disconnected, Val and Jeb switched Kaptin's shift,

The ship hit atmo and reentered, still the port wing had no lift.

With Bill's deep knowledge of the 'verse the ship was fixed and flying true,

Jeb handed over flight control so Val could show what she could do.

Val took the stick and flew the ship right down the glidepath, no abort.

She hit the mark with great precision, 'tween Overshoot and Whoopstooshort.

They touched the ground all safe and sound, and Gene and Wernher led a cheer,

The crew reflected, thanked the ship, and Jebediah shed a tear.

The ship was taken, science won and this is where the story ends,

Now our brave crew are not just kerbals, they have all become our friends.

Happy landings!

The best thing about this graphic novel is that the personality you've put in to the kerbals makes my own games more fun. I'll notice that I have Bill in the crew and wonder if he's making booze for instance.

Thanks! I'm really glad the personalities worked for you, and if I helped you enjoy the game a little more I'm thrilled. :)

That was a wonderful ending. Thanks Kuzzter for the whole thing. Powerful emotions in this, I shed a real tear, the kind of thing I haven't done in more than 7 years.

Awwww, now you're gonna make ME cry. Thank you :)
