SpaceX Autonomous SpacePort Drone Ship (ASDS) [1.2.X]

Landing on an ASDS mid air: not too tricky.

Landing an ASDS on a F9: Very awkward, and kinda difficult, but not impossible.

Landing the ASDS on an F9, then landing both on another ASDS, mid air: Completely ridiculous, but possible... well, technically I flew the second ASDS in under the F9... Landing an F9 with an ASDS on top is like trying to ride a unicycle while balancing a school bus on your head....

Anyway, this was crazy, but easier than I thought it would be... Anyone got any other crazy ideas?

I'm thinking about starting work on a F9 mod. I already have models for everything. The textures and model won't be as good as Laztek, but since it looks like Laztek's SpaceX is going the way of the Delta III (if you don't know what I mean by that, look up the flight history of the Delta III rocket IRL), I figured just getting something that works would be a good place to start. What do you guys think?

Loving the Mod, but I found the texture a bit to basic for my personal taste. So I added some detail for use in my career game http://i.imgur.com/qm6S8ab.png .DDS is available over here. Feel free to use it for your self :)

Yeah, my texture is very basic. This is my first mod, and I'm still learning. I'm much better at modeling than I am at texturing. I hope to improve the textures in the future once I get a bit more experience.

Your modeling skills are quite impressive, a lot of detail in this model.

I'm willing to sink some more time into touching up that texture, always happy to help.

What software are you using for texturing? maybe I can give you a few tips & tricks

I do all my modeling in solidworks. I use it a lot for both my robotics team and at work, so I've gotten quite used to it. I also feel it provides better quality models that blender. I exported the solidworks files to blender and then to unity.

Here's what I did for the textures: I used blender to export the UV map as a png so I had a template. Then I imported the png to photoshop and used that to add colors to the template. There's probably a better way to do it, but that's how I did it.

From what I've seen so far, ym101 is doing an amazing job. I seriously think you guys are gonna like what we have planned going forward, both for this mod and another we have in the works.

Aww thanks fam :D

A beta version of the new textures are done. Science will deal with deploying them, since I am not sure how he wants to do it, but keep in mind that there are a few problems I am aware of and am working on: Shipping containers have odd textures on some faces, body of the ASDS itself has some odd shading issues. Some notable things that have been changed: Added "Just Read the Instructions" to the model, and I'm going to add "Marmac 300" to the side of the ship either in this update or a later update which will come soon
