Using Infernal Robotics for an articulated trailer?

Hi all.

First forum post because I'm slightly stuck. I'm attempting to create an articulated trailer using Infernal Robotics. I am rather new to IR, but hoped that by having a free moving docking washer, I could attach something to it and it would rotate freely. Which failed. So I tried putting it on the base of a docking port, which would connect to another docking port on top of which was another washer... Which failed.

Any help and suggestions would be lovely!

I'm aware of stock articulation, and I have tried using KAS (i.e. a winch and a socket) as an alternative, but the former is um.. Not very secure. And the latter is rather floppy. I may emulate those screenshots but with tweakscale to keep it a little bit more compact. Thank you!
