Was not anymore.

 

Now Fomalhaut b would be an gas giant, if someone blew up or ate an gas giant 25 lightyear away this would be very visible.
However it was an high energy event. 
Planetary formation is very violent but also take some million years. However as we start to look more at them we will see much more of this and more spectacular sights like the formation of earths moon.
