Flip over during re-entry

I have a command pod on top of a service bay. There is a heat shield underneath

The whole thing flip over during re-entry. I already using retrograde option

Any idea why?

That's not a heat shield, that's a fairing base. This is a heat shield. It keeps flipping over because the fairing base has huge drag due to its blunt shape.

Actually, there is a heat shield, but no decoupler to get rid of the fairing base.  Add a decoupler in between the fairing base and the heat shield and try again.

I have a SC-9001science Jr inside the base. if i drop the base before re entry, would that lost science pts?

SciJr  inside the fairing base, or the service module? It should be fine inside the service module, and there’s no room for it inside the fairing base. So dropping the fairing base should be fine

You want to go EVA, right click the science Jr, take the science, and get back in your pod. Then the science Jr is useless and can be discarded. Which would require a redesign of the reentry craft.

The problem is the Jr is light and big, so your craft is aerodynamically stable with the heavier pod in the front. Discarding the Jr fixes that problem.

I tried few more times and somehow it works...
