I think somewhere back in 2020, some source said that one of the ways they are expanding moddability is the UI. This means layout, which wasn’t easy to do in KSP 1, but I expect you will be able to change the look of the UI too.

Be cool to have a hud that resembles interfaces on real, existing spacecraft. You know, like visuals and controls on the Eagle Lander, albiet not so busy.

You cannot have a hud that resembles this without looking busy. KSP 1 UI is about as busy as you can make a UI before it turns into a joke (KSP 1 UI is arguably already a joke), and that's still far from looking like a real spacecraft control panel.

Think more sylistically than in sheer amount. Take the navballs on the LEM, for example. They have white tops and black bottoms.  The small switches could be put next to "SAS" and "RCS". It would only carry over individual elements of the control panel being copied.

Just allow the option to play IVA with integrated UI and map view in the instruments panels. There's no need to make it more busy, just show it on the flight deck.
