  1. I didnt use them, until i tried to built a very efficient and compact lander for a mission to Tylo... since then, i use them constantly. Excellent piece of hardware. This little ship can lift off Tylo, reaching a low orbit with ease... It packs 3.1k of delta V. No mods, no part clipping. [edit] It was also the core part of my Eve ascend ship.
  2. Maintenance day... i ferried new crew and an orange tank to my orbital station.
  3. That moment when... you say "No KSP today" and later find your desk full of sketches with craft designs for upcoming missions...
  4. Gerry Anderson was such a visonary. I really love his designs. Especially those of Moonbase Alpha - Space 1999... I dont think, that 2 sets of the same part with different visuals will be integrated into KSP... that is not the style of KSP and definitely a job for the mod community. For the Mk. 3 parts i want a cool cockpit interior for IVA missions, a cargo bay, passenger module, inline docking port just as in the Mk. 2 series and some adapters to clip on different configurations of engines, probably a radial mounted adapter, that allows engines to be fitted to it, instead of having a radial attachable engine.
  5. Today i had a wonderful day in real life. Ok, i scribbled some design sketches for some spacecraft, i like to build some day.
  6. Almost like the real thing at KSC Very nice capture of the launch and landing of SpaceX´s Grasshopper. The film was shot from a hexacopter, hovering almost directly above the launch pad. Awesome material. Enjoy.
  7. Nice, i instantly envisioned primal Jeb, throwing a bone in the air... then the camera blends to a tumbling SRB in space, 25000 years later... Hopefully the object has the measures of 1:4:9...
  8. Poor Tylo aint getting much of a like... i guess because saying hello to Tylo always ends in a fight to the death. I´ve never been to Bop and Pol, Val is vast but has some strange feeling to it and i still need to find the anomaly (located it with ScanSAT in my .23.5 career though), so i go with Laythe. Especially with Environmental Visual Enhancements installed.
  9. When .21 (or .22, dont remember exactly) was announced, there were talks about adding surface effects and stuff in later versions. I bet, they are on it. Until than, building rockets and stuff is enough.
  10. Have you tried the water lag repellant bat spray? Finally i pulled my old space station from low Kerbin orbit to Duna orbit. And i tested the "Duna Turtle I-P4" (model 1, Passenger edition for 4 Kerbals) service shuttle in sandbox simulation, which will serve as a transport system between the orbital station and ground base... It comes down nice and easy, lifts off like a charm, but it flies like the control stick is strutted to the console by some insane space tape abuser... This needs some more attention in the SPH.
  11. Go, test it!!! Show some courage Its all about testing testing testing and gaining experience, so you know what the right stuff is. And to answer your question, you need a file hoster or a cloud service like dropbox to post your ship links here. I hope this helps.
  12. I was just about to post the same pic, when i scrolled to the end of the thread Still one of my alltime favorite games, concerning design, gameplay and storytelling. Excellent piece of software.
  13. Excerpt from my mission to Eve. Find the full mission log and set of pictures here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/93236-A-kerbaled-mission-to-Eve Enjoy
  14. A nice little animation of the Launch Abort System in Action... Enjoy.
  15. After the great success of my Eve landing craft, i took the final stage capsule and modified it, for test runs on Tylo... believe it or not... this configuration can land and take off from Tylo. If you wonder, why the lander has two sets of landing legs... During the upcoming grand tour, it will land first on Tylo in the seen configuration and after returning to the main mission craft, the upper stage will serve as a lander for Bop, Pol and Val as well. I just hyper-edited it into a 85 km orbit, where my mission craft would go into parking orbit. First i dropped orbit to around 15 km (time warp restrictions are a real b^^ch when it comes to Tylo, so i installed a mod to be able to accelerate until the lander reached desired orbital position) and shortly after passing apoapsis, i started to bleed of horizontal velocity, while keeping vertical velocity constantly at about 50 m/sec almost all the time during descent. When horizontal speed was killed, about 2000m above the ground, the final way was done using the second monopropellant stage landing at roughly 3 m/sec. It is "only" concentration work to land, when you know what Tylo wants from you... its all about keeping the descending velocity steady, while bleeding of lots of vertical speed... and keeping an eye on the instruments ALL the time.
  16. At least it blew up at the end Very cool video and errr... craft.
  17. Hello! I have just finished my first kerbaled mission to Eve. One of my biggest successes in KSP so far. Enjoy the screens [edit] You might also like my grand tour to Jool mission report: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/84993-Grand-Tour-to-Jool?highlight=grand+tour+jool
  18. Congratulations on successfully eliminating cornflakes! Oh, and nice video by the way.
  19. Ok, the first day, of my 3 week vacation from work. Got up early, cooked a nice hot cup of tea and got right to KSP, before starting real life with a long relaxing walk through the forest right now...: Backt to where i left Eve mission yesterday: Arrival - Descend - Surface Mission - Ascend - Successful return (YESSS!!!) I will make an album with descriptions and post it in my Grand tour mission thread later for some mission informations. [Edit] And here is the link: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/93236-A-kerbaled-mission-to-Eve
  20. When i sent a probe to Eve today, i noticed - after decoupling the lander probe - that i had forgotten to put a probe core into it... Forgetting the obvious things really s^^ks.
  21. Well, quite a creative day... my Eve lander is ready to go. 8 asparagus staged aerospikes and a skipper will do the job, providing more than 11k of delta V. On top of that sits the lander can with a lightly modified design based on the RCS lander, which you can see here http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29533-What-did-you-do-in-KSP-today?p=1400491&viewfull=1#post1400491 . Top left: On the launch pad and Gravity turn Top right: Almost into orbit and launch stage away Middle: Return vehicle with Bob and Jeb Kerman onboard arriving at the Eve Lander Bottom:Eve Lander, Return vehicle and transfer stage awaiting launch window Tomorrow will be the day... After the transfer to Eve, Jeb Kerman will attempt to land on Eve, plant the flag, get some science and hopefully returns in one piece, while Bob Kerman will supervise the operation from orbit. [edit] The costs are killing me... This mission costs almost 600k of funds, while paying only 375k back... Well, reputation and the knowledge that we can do it will be enough. Godspeed!
  22. After taking the contract to plant a flag on Eve, i started experimenting with ascend stage configurations, to ensure the safe return of my brave kerbonauts... i came upon this design as the final stage of the ascend vehicle... it has more than 3.000 delta V and a TWR on Eve´s surface between 2.2 and 6.3 ... i bet this tiny thing packs a real punch when it comes to getting the job done... i also noticed, it has a TWR of 4.9 on Tylo... this will make things A LOT more easy, when i go on my next try to do the Jool Grand Tour once KSP .25 is released. I bet this could be easily modified to launch from Tylo on its own. This design is completely stock, uses neither cheats nor part clipping. And now back to the VAB... I need to stick more parts together...
  23. There is lots to explore and lots of space to undertake cool missions. I have always dreamed about doing a grand tour through the complete system in one run, like in the BBC documentary "Voyage to the planets". At the moment, i am not experienced enough to do it with style, but i collect every piece of information from the game i can get, test all possible designs of special landers, rovers and stuff and go through possible mission profiles, to achieve this goal one day.
  24. Shame on you... every Kerbal is important... and if the mission is dangerous, Jeb, Bill and Bob volunteer... for sure I always use safety procedures. Very much like Wanderfound posted just above.
  25. Today i sent my first mission to Eve in .24.2. Eve Orbiter and Eve Surface Explorer I both succeeded in their mission, returning lots of SCIENCE and funds. They completed the "Explore Eve" Mission at ease. For the next mission, i can get rid of some parachutes. The probe only had a velocity of 3.4 m/s during final descent, making the thrusters obsolete. I guess going with 2 main chutes and a center drogue chute will be enough for such a light craft. And i have just taken the contract "Plant a flag on Eve"... i will do that for sure. And with a ticket home in the pocket. No one is sacrificed for SCIENCE... err... well... maybe...
