The Elcano Challenge : Ground-based circumnavigation
Wooks replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Hey, thank you! I considered a 100% land circumnavigation but, let's be honest, Kerbin has a freaking lot of water . A real, honest to God, 100% land circumnavigation would require some crazy pathing and backtracking, it took me almost 6 months to make a simple / straight circumnavigation. You need to add Boronto's Duna circumnavigation, he did it when the rover parts were released (around 2013). As soon as I can find the links I'd share them. (edit) Here it is: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24963-Driving-Duna-%28Circumnavigating-the-Red-Planet-by-rover%29-pic-heavy -
The Chunkin' Challenge -- Haul Out your Trebuchets!
Wooks replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Thanks, glad you liked it. You are right about the distance readings, the may be off a bit by the challenge standards, I'll run a couple more tests. -
The Chunkin' Challenge -- Haul Out your Trebuchets!
Wooks replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm not sure how to categorize my slingshot, I think it should fit in "tension". The throw itself is not powered assisted, the rockets are used just to create enough tension. u -
Hmmm... cool, I guess? And yes, here in the forums we guessed what it was. But, hey, this is just the official KSP forums, not that it counts, right?

Need help taking off my heavy cargo spaceplane
Wooks replied to Fearless Son's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I find your lack of turbojet engines disturbing, you definitely need moar, no ammount of wing surface will lift that weight without some serious thrust. Have you considered moving your cargo bay to the middle of the ship, placing it between fuel tanks? It may help balancing the ship on the return trip. -
This challenge deserves a remake.

Hover challenge MK2 / Everyday I'm Hoverin'
Wooks replied to TJPrime's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I've done Kerbin circumnavigations with hovercrafts, using liquid fuel they can last a looong time on the air, hours even. If you really want to keep the jet engines on the challenge make it separated tiers: LF - LF+O - RCS. -
A 4 times Kerbin aerial circumnavigation under 25k m. Short gif for guys with ADHD. More detailed video for technical types.

This is a really old video of mine, a round trip to get science from Duna and Ike with 6 probes and a lander, I wanted to return to Kerbin in style so I set up everything to decouple and land separately. Relevant part to the discussion starts in 8:00, no need to watch whole.

COPYCAT: launch a copy of the lifter you used
Wooks replied to LABHOUSE's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ok, I've read the OP and the comments twice, and I still don't understand the challenge. Maybe I'm to dense, but a clearer explanation of the objective and some proof of concept from our host would be nice. -
I enjoy the cinematics and do expect them with every release. Moar please.

What about the Mk1 Fuselage - Intake, the Engine Nacelle and the Radial Engine Body? Any data on those against air intakes and between themselves?
