  1. I was thinking along those lines, I didn't know transferring worked like that now, thank you. Umm, they are going to be up there a while... But I thought I'd have to fly the grabbed hitchhiker through deadly re-entry, ugh.
  2. Can't rescue crashed tourists from the Mun, because the idiots won't EVA. Which I discovered only after sending a rescue ship up to them. Screw them, first permanent civilian Mun residents...
  3. I'd only buy a lanyard after the Kerbals invent the dang tether...
  4. I get these contracts too, It says to recover the wreck too. I've landed near stranded kerbals and their wreck on the mun and the wreck is hovering above the ground spinning, and then sometimes falls and explodes. I just reject them now too since I can't figure out how to bring the wreck back...
  5. Since I somehow missed Yuri Gagarin Day on April 12th, I also launched Yuri Kerman into orbit after Alan B. Kerman. But I cheated and built the Vostok-1 from the Wiki. Edit- I really need to download some soviet parts...
  6. I did my first ever replica of a real spacecraft. Looks a lot like SkyRender's Moho-3 with the Purplerock. I did overdo the abort system though. I think using the midsize nosecone with 16 sepatrons was a bit much. (On test it lifted the pod up 1.5 km)
  7. Actual BBC article from the day- http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/5/newsid_2504000/2504317.stm Does anyone have a stock replica of the flight? I imagine it's not very complicated...
  8. After one of my cluster of 5 probes I sent to Jool crashed. I had to send one to Pol, which I christened the Pol-R Express.
  9. Moho is scary. I have yet to land a kerbal there... I've been to all the other planets (except I haven't had a return from Eve yet, haven't tried) and I haven't landed on any of Jool's moons yet, been waiting until after I land on Moho. I think I've landed on Gilly, but I can't remember, I remember having problems landing unmanned probes on Gilly.
  10. Ditto. I'm far to old and clumsy and panic far to easily and often to do all but the simplest of things without MechJeb. I'm amazed at the people that can rendezvous with a cattywampus orbit manually. I have a fair amount of college level mathematics and orbital mechanics under my belt, so I understand what MechJeb is doing. It just doesn't cover its eyes like I do when something goes wrong... I did get to Duna and back on stock parts and no MechJeb, and a SSTO probe is simple. But building a spacestation without MechJeb... forget it. I'll never be confident enough to call myself an expert like some of the other amazing players are, with feats that just boggle my mind that they did it. I'm far to impatient and panicky and would have given up out of frustration if it weren't for MechJeb. I'll readily agree I 'cheat' but I have fun, not harming anyone, and surely I'm not comparing myself to those other fantastic players.
  11. I understand that, which is why I only said something about the auto dock not working once. I can see now how my post after cheech420now can be construed as a nasty complaining post. I also now see that his confirming my bug was the right thing to do, and I apologize to Cheech420now too. I wish I hadn't made that post. I typically stay away from forums, and not use to a community being so nice. I see why Sarbian got upset too. Thank you for pointing out that cheech420now didn't do anything wrong. I wish I could take my post back...
  12. I am not an idiot waste of space. And I resent being called that. I am in awe of MJ. I wouldn't play KSP without MechJeb. I was mad a Cheech420now for "confirming'' that autodock wasn't working. Something I pointed out ONCE and asked for work arounds. I got a lot of good suggestions. And I was getting by. You all have misunderstood what I meant. Can't any of you see how me, a newbie to the community, could be upset by having someone "confirm" what I had said ages ago. It was not a slam against Sarbian at all, and I'm sorry everybody saw it that way. I challenge any of you to find a post of me complaining. I only pointed out a bug, asked how to do it without MJ, got solutions, and somebody comes along and confirms that yes indeed auto docking wasn't working. That was frustrating to me, as if nobody was listening to me. Again, I am sorry.
  13. AGAIN, sigh, I wasn't complaining about Sarbian! geez. I just pointed out that I said the auto docking wasn't working days ago. Go back and read my posts I never once complained about it not working. It was just irritating that somebody "Confirmed- Auto Docking not working". I know you aren't doing this for pay and I'm very grateful for MechJeb, if I could help I would. Again I'm sorry such a innocuous remark labeled me a 'complainer'. I'm not, and I apologize... Go back an see how many times I 'complained'. NONE. I reported the bug, asked people for work arounds and that was it.
  14. Wait, you misunderstood. I wasn't upset about MechJeb not working, I was upset somebody 'confirmed' that the auto pilot wasn't working, which I pointed out, not complained about it. I was getting around the problem and I didn't mean to take it out on you. I appreciate everything you've done and am very grateful. Again I wasn't complaining about MechJeb not working I was complaining that "It's confirmed auto docking isn't working" as if I was too stupid to count. Why don't you yell at him? I have NEVER complained about MechJeb and never will... I would not enjoy KSP without it and I can not compliment you enough. I apologize if you misconstrued that as a slam against you...
  15. Eh, it's not that big of a problem to create a new user, or update my Ribbons. Doubt it would take 15 minutes, if that. I think you are doing an awesome job. I haven't even used my ribbons as a sig file yet, just a way for me to see that I'm actually making progress. Plus they look pretty... I actually landed a crew on Eeloo and got them back home, with stock parts! (Okay, I used mechjeb, but I'm clumsy at the keyboard interface, and I studied astronomy and math in college so I know what mechjeb is doing anyway... Just better than I could) Again thanks for doing this, and I seconded the fact that this is a wonderful addition to the community.
  16. One more challenge I'm not trying because I suck at piloting. I understand orbital mechanics, I can (and have, solved such problems). But I'm just to uncoordinated to do something like this without MechJeb. (Which I don't regard as a cheat for me because I perfectly understand all the orbital mechanics it's doing, I just hate hitting the wrong button, or spacebar by accident Besides I play computer games to relax not make my blood pressure go even higher... ) I'm suitable Impressed, Zepplinmage.
  17. The Chelyabinsk meteor was about 20 m in diameter, According to KSP Type E asteroids are about the same size at "no smaller than 18 m". All the Chelyabinsk meteor did was make several sonic booms and hurt a lot of people from falling glass. None of these Asteroids added in the update would cause much damage if they hit Kermin. No dinosaur killers the size of Gilly... So don't panic, I like the fact you can completely ignore the Asteroids in the game if you don't want to deal with them, Don't track them and the unknown objects disappear.
  18. I'm an amateur astronomer with some college courses in astronomy under my belt. (I was heading for post graduate work but several family tragedies close together ended that dream) All these are very small asteroids, even Es. These are as common as the game shows. The one that went over Russia last year was probably an E. And all it did was break a lot of windows and caused a lot of scratches from falling glass. None of these are 'Dinosaur' killers. Most won't even make it to the surface of the Earth. And in game they cause absolutely no damage. Ignore the Asteroids if you don't want to deal with them. Dres is the size of our largest asteroid in real life, and it has a stable orbit no where near earth. It would take an asteroid the size of Mount Everest to cause much damage, and even that wouldn't be an extinction level event. The worse possible outcome is some seriously large Tsunamis. Which is likely since 75% of the earth's surface is water. And E wouldn't even make ripples... It's the ones the size of Gilly and Ike we need worry about...
  19. I hated the Ion engine, it was pointless. I tried using it a couple of times and gave up. It couldn't push the mass of all the damn energy it took to fly the damn thing. I'm with John Crichton. It's not OP. This isn't reality, this is a game, and games are meant to be enjoyable. Maybe now I'll actually use the stupid ion engine. (I don't know how people used it before, I must have been doing something wrong...)
  20. I love the new update. I'm very surprised people don't like it or even hate it. I've been wanting a heavier rocket than the Mainsail for ages. I don't have time for 200 iterations before I get something into orbit, like a decent station. You don't have to use the new parts if you don't want to (Squad please don't nerf them, I need them). I love everything about this patch. Just ignore the asteroids, they will go away. None of them are 'dinosaur' killers. IF you don't track them, they go away... I like that feature. Again, I took astronomy in college, and I'm an amateur astronomer, yes, these size asteroids are as common as the game is showing them. The one that went over Russia last year was probably an E. These aren't that large. E type events are fairly common, one every four or five years. And don't worry about were kerbals all dying. I watched a C collide into Kermin while I was busy with another asteroid, kinda a cool. But nothing happened. I'm sorry if someone else has pointed these things out but I'm not reading 10 pages of "This update has ruined KSP for me". I love the update, I was getting frustrated in launching large things into space, I like the asteroids as something else to do. Again I'm surprised people hate the update. I guess there's no pleasing some people.. I hope this update raises awareness that we really need an early warning system for asteroids, even type Es slip past now. A truly large asteroid, a kilometer or so in diameter can do some serious damage. But not these itty bitty pebbles... The OP is wrong he doesn't have to save Kerbin from the E asteroids, if you don't like them don't track them. They do nothing when they hit, (even real ones that size in real life) and I love the new parts. Thanks NASA and Squad. And I haven't even tried the new ion engine yet, the thing was pointless before. Now I can make big rockets that look like rockets and not have 35 mainsails clustered around, strutted so much it looks so silly my niece laughed at them. I really REALLY don't understand what the problem is...
  21. It won't let me log in. Has everything been wiped? (Not that it's that big of a deal to me...) But I've been exploring the Kerbol system more than I have since I got the game in January.
  22. I still can't target the center of mass of an asteroid. But if I abort a rendezvous with a asteroid, but don't dismiss the window, it keeps the asteroid as the target and I can use SmartASS to TGT+ it and gently push towards. I still have to aim a little bit for the center of gravity and if I go to0 fast it still spins, but I can grab them. I got a small one into a ~500 km orbit. (And helplessly watched a Type C slam into Kerbin, that was kinda fun.)
  23. Oh I'm so confused. The first time I did it, I looked at the tracking station and one of the first asteroids I see is a Class E asteroid coming within 50 km of Kermin. I cobbled together a ship, using a modified old ship.I 'docked' with it with no problem and pushed it easily into a 100 km periapsis, highly elliptical orbit... I've tried several asteroids since and I spin around like a carousel. Beginner's Luck? And I'm kind of new, what's all this 'pivot' stuff?
