  1. When this happens to me, it's usually because I still have the craft set to turn retrograde.
  2. If you don't want to pay $40, don't buy the game. No need to create a forum account every time you decide not to buy something.
  3. They're fun for interplanetary, small orbiters, but not much use beyond that. When the physics of light were changed a few updates back, they really lost usefulness past about Dres. There's just not enough light out there to power them without a lot of panels. But that's the way it is in real life too.
  4. It sounds like a question of semantics. I think they're a developer. They developed a game, that's good enough for me. I like Squad, and I love KSP, don't think I don't. I just find it really aggravating that a bug (or bugs) this bad made it into a release at this stage, especially one that was widely known and discussed.
  5. This must be related to resolution. My nav ball may be a bit bigger, but if it is, I can't tell. I play at 1920x1080 or so though, maybe that is it. What resolution do you play at?
  6. Sorry, I just can't agree to that. If you call something a "release", people expect that it is in a release state. They should not have to do research to figure out whether it's true or not. These terms are widely understood and accepted, and have been for decades. Don't blame the user because Squad called something a "release" which was not up to release standards. Now, I personally think that 1.0 was up to release standards. 1.05 was also fine, it worked well. Everything was functional. However, here at 1.1, we're back in beta, for all intents and purposes, and if someone bought the game now and found it to be in beta condition (and the way landing gear and struts are, this is beta level functionality), they have every right to be mad about it.
  7. That's what I did. It's not just lining up the thrust. The claw flexes so much that is is almost impossible to control.
  8. It runs fine outside of Steam. Just copy the whole game directory somewhere else and run it.
  9. The problem is, I didn't buy KSP to be a bug tester. Also, these problems were widely known to exist before they released 1.1, in most cases. The landing gear issues are particularly frustrating because Squad knew about them, and they make aircraft nearly unusable. The same goes for landing struts.
  10. To me, landing is hard enough without having to make a perfect approach. And I've done a lot of spaceplanes. Imagine how frustrating it would be for a beginner?
  11. Fifth Horseman turned one into an airplane once, and this was before you could get fuel from them!
  12. OK, let me make sure there are no misunderstandings. I called myself a term, which starts with "Grammar" and ends with a word that rhymes with "Yahtzee". Only the forum apparently doesn't allow you to use that word, so the first time I posted it, it changed it to "Grammar Bad Person." The second time, I was having a little fun pointing out that I can't say the actual word. But to be perfectly clear, I wasn't accusing you of it, I was saying I wasn't going to be that kind of person. Fair enough? We're all friends here, and I like to keep it friendly! This is KSP, not Dark Souls!
  13. Reminds me of the Ray Bradbury story... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Apples_of_the_Sun
  14. I only have one rule, but it is important, and it's this: Always... No wait, it's Never...
  15. Yes, I've noticed them, and I was actually really surprised that Squad released 1.1 without having fixed them, despite knowing about the problems. Having your landing gear explode on even gentle landings, or worse yet, during takeoff, is not the Kerbal Way. That's not fun, it's frustrating.
  16. How is that a jab? Sorry, I think I should stop posting here, this is just getting a little crazy.
  17. I have to say, I find it very discouraging that people think they are being "attacked" because someone created a challenge you can't (yet) participate in. Attacked? Don't you think that's being a bit dramatic?
  18. I actually edited that part out because I decided not to be a petty grammar (member of the party that ran Germany during World War II).
  19. Also, let me point out: the purpose of the pre-release was not to give players an early version of the update. It was to allow Squad to test the game before release. This isn't a reward for players, it's a beta test, to benefit Squad. As far as players creating challenges... I think this is a very minor thing to get upset about, if that's really all that bothers you.
  20. Someone else getting a version before you is not "punishing" you. 1.1 was a pre-release at the time, which is a beta. People have the choice of participating, although not everyone, just like most betas. You are not harmed at all, nor is anyone else who doesn't participate.
  21. You've been holding a Diet Coke since the 1980's? Your hand must be cold.
  22. It's actually not even THAT bad. I just made a tailsitter for Laythe, and just on a lark I decided to see if A Kerbal could use the ladders if they were perpendicular to the hatch. And they can. It doesn't cause any problem at all, except sometimes they descend the ladder upside down.
  23. They're removing the hatch from that cockpit? Is that what I had to read this whole thread to figure out?
  24. I want to amend my statement. The Juno isn't much good for making an SSTO. It is, however, fun for the early days of career. You can still use it for low-altitude stuff. I've been having some fun with this, the Hopper, which was designed to just fly around the KSC and get science from all the building biomes. It is also useful for flying to nearby biomes, like Grasslands, Highlands and the mountains. this is before you get wheels. This is before I even got solar panels. It's a surprisingly easy and fun craft to fly.
  25. I hadn't seen any notification of it either, because I don't go to the main page for the forums, I go right to the General Discussion. So I think you had a valid point.
