What could they be deleting? Was it the 0.90 Windows 64-bit client? If so then IMHO that's pretty obnoxious, reaching out and deleting a version of the game that players paid for.

On that note, is it vexx or myself? Or anyone else in this thread?

The Other Linux Thread
cantab replied to skeevy's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
If you bought KSP through Steam, you're quite welcome to copy the entire KSP folder out of Steam and somewhere else and run it directly. Just poke around in the Steam folder, usually under /home/yourusername/.steam , to find it. (A file or folder name starting with a dot is how Linux does hidden files, so you may need to enable showing them.) As for graphics drivers, if you have an nVidia card you'll almost surely want the proprietary nVidia drivers, if you have an AMD card you might want the proprietary AMD drivers. In general to install programs on Linux you should get out of the Windows habit of downloading installers from websites, and use the package manager or software centre which is similar to the app stores on mobiles. -
Well, absence of a make or model is itself a bad sign, as is a rated wattage that's definitely too low for the graphics card one's interested in.
-
Open it up and read off what information you can from the PSU. You'll see the connectors of course, probably the rated wattage, and if you're lucky a brand and model number.

Disapering Minmus SOI then you have an Mun SOI on return trajectory.
cantab replied to magnemoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've had the flickering/vanishing SOI change prediction bug on interplanetary travels with no later encounter involved, so I don't think this hypothesis is right. It's a super annoying bug that's for sure. -
How do generally install/deinstall your mods?
cantab replied to CaptRobau's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Manually. I think at the moment I've just got a couple of 0.90 installs, a main one and a bone stock one. I tried CKAN, it pulled in all of Firespitter when I wanted KAX so I promptly went back to manual. (I know, I know, CKAN can be configured not to do that, but the default did and that was enough to put me off further use.) -
In other news, I'm calling my first city complete. 79 thousand people, hundreds of overcrowded buses, 100 hours of play, dozens of broken roundabouts, eight industrial estates, two dams, one space elevator, zero mods, plenty of game lag, lots of traffic, and nary a grid in sight.

You have to hit Esc.

It may be mentioned in the tutorials, but I strongly recommend the PreciseNode mod for gravity assists or any other precision manoeuvre work. As for what you can do, well I got a small simple probe, maybe a couple of thousand m/s of delta-v, to fly past every planet.

Keosynchronous orbit with inclinaton >90° ???
cantab replied to Maelin's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What would the ground track of a retrograde synchronous orbit look like anyway? I know with a small inclination you get a figure eight, but with an essentially retrograde orbit I've got no idea. -
I think you just have to find it. Might be tough on some maps. Orientation of the airport probably matters.

From a fuel usage perspective you are much better off not stopping in Kerbin orbit. Meet the asteroid in solar orbit and arrange a gravity assist, possibly powered, to boost you on to Duna. I strongly recommend the PreciseNode mod for any gravity assist work. Then either build the station once the rock is at Duna, or send the station parts up to meet the rock during its flyby of Kerbin. The latter approach is what I took when I sent a C class to Ike. If you must stop in Kerbin orbit, consider an aerocpature into an elliptical one, something like 100x10,000 km. Make sure it's safe from Mun encounters. As for construction, be aware that while multiple station modules clawed to the asteroid looks cool it also attracts game bugs. If you're happy with a single block of station bits then attach with a single claw.

So on the upstream (convex) side of the dam there's an angle where it goes from vertical to sloped. That will be the water level in the reservoir. Make sure the river bank upstream is higher! Once the water level reaches that, the dam will let water flow from the convex side to the concave side, whether or not you have the electricity generation on. It will not let water flow the other way unless it's overtopped. So RocketPilot, I believe what you need to do is contrive to put a dam in the river that faces the other way. To do that you need to reverse the river's flow, which you can do with the aid of water pumps and sewage outlets.
-
Dang outback. Dams probably are the easiest thing in the game to mess up. You do need to be aware they can temporarily dry the river up downstream from them. If there's only one river on your map be extra careful. Still, you can usually claw your way back. Slash services, even demolish or downgrade roads if need be, anything to get back into the black.

Pfft. You kids and your computer games. I remember the original "Kerb-All" model rockets released by Estes in I think it was 1996. They were miniature model rockets meant to be safely launched from a sidewalk, hence the name, but the thin construction made them prone to Rapid Unplanned Disassembly so they stopped selling them. But I believe some surplus ones got flogged off in Mexico in the early noughties and that's when Harvester got his start in rocketry.
-
Mind=Blown. Comic Sans is so called because it's anything but funny.
-
Nice RocketPilot! I see you've gone down the land reclamation route, seems to be one of the game's more popular tricks. Of course some maps make it easier than others. And here's the state of my sprawl, To think that I need to about double it to unlock monuments...

Seriously, that's just cruel. First the planned forum update and now this. Pranks don't have to be sadistically evil guys
-
For what it's worth you guys do know you can pause time right? Click the play/pause icon or hit the spacebar.

Shameless showoff of my messy city: https://flic.kr/p/ryBLY2 I just got up to "Colossal City" with 42,000 people. Getting the population to rise does seem to be getting tougher. Maybe not helped by some reticence on my part to actually do tons of building.

I had traffic problems on an interchange, so I fixed them with overkill Now I imagine my people are saying Can we have the traffic back?
