Well, there are Pentiums and Core i3's for less. Yeah, that's changed. Nowadays 'integrated graphics' generally means integrated into the processor, and most processors have it. Motherboard integrated graphics is very rare on consumer desktops and workstations, though you might see it on servers. Yes. You just need to check that the graphics outputs include one compatible with your monitor. Link? Because to my knowledge it's rare for Skylake/LGA1151 motherboards to have that. What you do see on slightly more expensive motherboards is a VGA graphics output which for Skylake requires a converter chip because the processor only does digital outputs itself.

Not pressing. At present both those would be bad outcomes. Press the button for a chip butty.

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
cantab replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There've been a few first stages that could theoretically reach orbit with a light payload, Elon Musk claimed that of the Falcon 9. But with an expendable launcher there's no point - better to add a second stage in order to launch a lot more payload. Regarding getting notice about mod updates: I think Spacedock will do email notification of new releases. That's the best option I reckon. Next best is probably to set either Spacedock's FAR page or this thread's first page as one of your browser's homepages. Then you'll check any time you start up your browser. Emails from the forum will be on every post in the thread, not much help. You can get emails from Github, but I don't know if you can configure it to only get emails about releases. It's not great if you end up with an email every time ferram makes a commit to his development branch.- 14,073 replies

Granted. Harry Potter is too big to crawl through the tunnels of Cirith Ungol, and the ring falls into the hands of Shelob and from her, Sauron. Frodo Baggins doesn't know any magic and gets killed by Lord Voldemort. I wish I could sleep.
-
I scatter the Sands of Time around myself. Time flows backwards, returning to the beginning of the battle.
-
Granted. Squad reach an agreement with Ferram to put FAR's aerodynamics in the stock game. I wish Lego minifigs didn't get knocked off their bricks so easily.
-
Granted. It's in your back yard firing constantly night and day. I wish for legal immunity to speed limits.
-
Granted. It burns you twice. I wish I didn't need to have a bath.
-
No Deal. I ask for box number eleven to be opened, and it reveals a pawn. Good, that boosts my odds of winning a major piece in the box I have,
-
Accio pawn's weapons!

Want to burn down a house legally? Become a diplomat. OK, technically it don't be legal, but you can't be punished for it.

My pawns ski down the mountain and shoot the boomrats with rifles.

Don't like waiting to collect your bag in the airport? Simply wear all your holiday clothes in layers on the plane!

Granted. Athens defeated Sparta by being like Sparta. Democracy is confined to the writings of the most eccentric philosophers. Now make sure you attend your roll call in the King's Army tomorrow morning. I wish 24 hour supermarkets were open on Sunday night.

'twas a Roborace car - motor racing for driverless cars. but WHAT IS THAAAAAAT? It looks like a cross between a Worm and a Smurf...

It's got the orbiter attached directly to the orange tank and not attached to the radial decoupler, is what it is.
-
Granted. It's totally ignorant of national borders and air traffic regulations and as a result you get shot down. I wish for fewer wishes.

And the implications of the developers being fired en masse would be any better?
-
Granted. They announce their intention to sue Squad. The costs of defending the lawsuit makes Squad decide it's best to cease KSP development and remove it from sale. I wish Children of a Dead Earth had a high-quality Linux port.

@The Raging Sandwich you called earlier? You up next?

You're quibbling about a technicality there. Whether the developers resigned, were fired, or had temporary contracts that were not renewed, I don't think it makes much difference to either the future of KSP or the positiveness of Squad's staff relations.

I thought he was done here??? @CodatheSpaceFox ?
-
Almost every jurisdiction allows arrangements like that, and at first that's what I thought had been the case, but I've gotten the vibe it might have been a mass resignation or even mass redundancy or sacking instead. Not least because if it had been a simple matter of contracts coming to their pre-arranged end, surely Squad would have said so?

Well, my thoughts: I think it is time for KSP to be considered "finished". It has almost all the major features it could want without needing to become a totally different game. Life support was deliberately omitted in the name of "Kerbal fun" and multiplayer would probably be a major development task to do well. KSP also remains limited in some ways by the Unity engine, and that reliance on a third-party engine is why I think the Minecraft model of continuous development isn't suited to KSP. To really improve the game requires a fresh start, a KSP sequel. As mentioned, the latest crop of modders-turned-devs were all hired in a fairly short space of time IIRC. In hindsight it's no great surprise that they all leave at once, although it perhaps could have been expressed more clearly. As fas as KSP on PC goes, I just hope Squad retained enough talent for maintenance. 1.2 will have bugs, I expect some 1.2.x releases will be required, and they need the people to make them. And Squad could do with somebody to finalise the models Porkjet made and get them in the game. And if 1.2 is going to be the "finished" KSP then there needs to be an updated demo too, which could also fix the poor part selection in the 1.0 demo. As fas as KSP on consoles goes ... ugh. That's been a mess from the start and Squad really need to sort it out if they want to restore the game's reputation. As far as the future of Squad goes, I would like to see them develop new games. I don't see a "Kerbal franchise" as a bad thing. But, I think Squad need to stop acting like an indie bedroom outfit and start acting like a proper development studio! They've earned millions from KSP and unless that's been diverted into unrelated projects or siphoned of into the owners' bank accounts (either of which is perfectly legal by the way) then it should be available to do game development with. I don't expect "AAA" level stuff but I do think the quality should be improved. KSP is a brilliant game, a visionary concept given the backing it needed, but with its bugs, performance issues, and at times visual unimpressiveness it's not a technically high-quality game.
