  1. I'll be taking this dependency and preconfiguring MKS and Karbonite in the next major release. Will have to do a new vid too
  2. That's what I figured - which is totally cool, I'll just start 'encouraging' people to download this first since it makes my life so much easier. That little pop-up screen is pretty much exactly what I need for support.
  3. Oh I am so going to insist on that for support going forward I assume that comes with the mini/bundled version?
  4. I'd agree with this. In the end the community is going to figure out how to get the stuff they want. So one reason (let's not use issues as noted above) to go open is it makes it easier to accept change, and encourages innovation. Your flip side is going to be that you will lose creative control. And that latter case IMO is one that's tough for folks. Some will see it as an opportunity to pull in and curate the very best derivatives (the overlay Cyrik is making for ORS is downright sweet), and others will see it as a constant risk to the cohesion of their vision for the mod. Neither answer is right, but folks should not be surprised if someone decides they want to do the same thing in a different/better way. There are things I don't like about KAS... and bits of code I would have preferred to just have rolled in, because it enhances the overall mod. But not really an option given it's licensing model (yes, I am aware I can still do a pull request... but call it a principle thing. IMO taking in modifications to a closed license mod is like having your cake and eating mine too). So choices. I'll just plink away at my own mod that grabs stuff and sticks stuff on things, because that's where I (again, my choice) feel there's a path to innovation.
  5. *pokes in* Everyone here I am sure is aware of the benefits or lack thereof with the multitude of licensing choices. I choose mine because, to be blunt, I could be hit by a bus tomorrow and I'd rather not leave my stuff in a place where people cannot modify it. The flip side is that... well.. people can modify my stuff. Some do. Some do strange things with it, and some do awesome things (I wandered into the Karbonite Real Fuels thread by accident, and was pretty impressed with the stuff they are doing). But that's my choice. Just as having something in a different license is someone else's choice. I'm happy we at least require folks to show the source code and *have* a license, as that solves a lot of issues. But to clear the air on something I read earlier... Karbonite was not created to kill off Kethane. It was created because not so nice stuff got bundled with Kethane, and there was no way for someone to fork it and get rid of it. That's the flip side of that choice (and again, let's emphasize choice). IMO forks are good. Forks are where you get innovation and improvements. Multiple contributors and collaborators (again, IMO) are also good. Most of the mods I have, or the things I add to them, are either the result of collaborations, or based on absorbing in changes from the community (or at the very least, letting them collectively steer things). It's also good stuff in the case of KSPI because there was a permissive license in place. But again, Fractal chose that. The flip side is that when he comes back, he now has a fork... so then the question of divergence or rolling back in come into play (thus the downside). IMO the good outweighs the bad, but that's still for everyone to make a choice on - provided it's an educated choice. I'd rather see folks not coerced one way or the other. (Minor edit addendum) While I would rather not see coercion, I'll quite happily suggest that an open license is a good default choice for the reasons mentioned above and help folks make an educated choice
  6. Side note... the props now take about 725 EC/Second at peak power... it WILL drain that nuclear reactor at full thrust with four engines. Gimbals added, they also spin up faster. But using this in FAR is going to be a bear.
  7. Yeah I am going to have to totally review all of this for FAR compatibility.
  8. In your own save, sure. Only request is to not distribute anything that changes the CRP configs because that's just going to cause a big mess I like that idea - I noticed there was no Xenon gas anywhere and it's a resource we already have. Just PM me a list of what you have and the relevant mod (if it's in dev we just ask that you wait till release, because we get a lot of requests from mods that die out). At the very least I put it on the 'stuff people use' list. If someone else picks it up it goes on the big list, or if it's a no brainer like, say, Sodium or something. Good example is that Snacks will make the list if it's author wants, since it's getting some traction.
  9. MKS hasn't had LS tied to it in a bit... it will work with TAC or work with Snacks or work with... erm.. no life support. Or heck, work with both
  10. SO yah... hard as hell with FAR... let me see if gimbaling the engines helps. It may be that FAR requires a much more gentle touch
  11. I'm going to go play with FAR right now and report back (any excuse to play with a Honeybadger is a good one)
  12. Dear god this thing is becoming incredibly awesome. If I could give more rep I would.
  13. Not a bug, as long as you don't have duplicate keys on the same body you're fine (You can see this on the planetary resources too). No debate that realfuels would adjust - CRP takes no opinion one way or the other RE densities (the counterpoint is that for folks not using realfuels, they would have to convert up to the 5L units stock uses). If over time if the curators of the mods of record start moving one way or the other, CRP will reflect. That being said, most of the mods that use CRP right now use mostly 5L units.
  14. Fine by me, we should coincide any updates until then since this isn't hurting anything. Gives everyone a chance to sort through these. I'll be doing a large planetary adjustment as well at the same time. (Edit) Let me know if changing these will have any impact on KSPI - I think the only ones that might would be changing Oxygen/Hydrogen to be.. well... Oxygen and Hydrogen Asking because in the event that a new CRP comes out early I don't want it to affect KSPI-Lite
  15. This one works stand alone other than some DLL dependencies, so it's fairly lightweight
  16. Proposals for 0.2.0: Deprecate oceanic and atmospheric resources that have no corresponding CRP resource Remove Eve Sodium Remove Eve Chlorine Remove Eve Magnesium Remove Kerbin Chlorine Remove Kerbin Sodium Remove Kerbin Magnesium Remove Kerbin Sulphur Remove Kerbin Calcium Remove Kerbin Potassium Remove Laythe Chlorine Remove Laythe Sodium Remove Laythe Magnesium Remove Kerbin Neon Remove Kerbin Krypton Remove Duna Nitrogen Remove Laythe Nitrogen Convert oceanic and atmospheric resources that have CRP equivelants Convert Eve CarbomDioxide Remove Eve Nitrogen Remove Kerbin Nitrogen Convert Kerbin CarbonDioxide Convert Kerbin Helium-3 Convert Duna CarbonDioxide Convert Laythe CarbonDioxide Adjust certain oceanic and atmospheric resources in favor of alternatives Change water on Eve to Karbonite Change Kerbin Oxygen->Oxidizer to Oxygen->Oxygen Change Duna Oxygen->Oxidizer to Oxygen->Oxygen Change Laythe Oxygen->Oxidizer to Oxygen->Oxygen Change Kerbin Hydrogen->LiquidFuel to Hydrogen->Hydrogen Change Jool Hydrogen->LiquidFuel to Hydrogen->Hydrogen Reduce Jool Hydrogen and add Karbonite
  17. Awesome! Yeah, I love the idea of a more lighthearted life support mod, and Snacks! fits the bill. The main reason I broke out the TAC-LS of MKS was to give people the chance for more choices. Again, if someone wants to take the MKS models and redo this one to break that dependency, go for it. I did it as an MKS one because people in my thread have been asking for it
  18. I just had the crazy desire to make a really cool environmental suit thingie
  19. No debate, jut more of a footprint thing. Really glad I could help you out - have fun!
  20. Good suggestions I'm actually circling around to this mod as it needs some love, and I was just having fun working on the DERP's little cousin:
