An option to make a txt file with the installed mods and their respective version would be an amazing debugging tool for KSP.

Ad astra per asparagus
It's a shame I don't know who said it first.
P.S: for those unfamiliar with latin (e.g, me), it's a joke about the latin saying "Ad astra per aspera", "To the stars through difficulties".

Now the gap between Curse and Kerbal Stuff has grown to 100 mods (in Kerbal Stuff's favor)!
Why can't I spread all this rep?
-
-- removed: apparently I am one of those people who don't research what they are doing before they ask. Sorry!
-
Fair enough, although if posting here is not enough I'll stop posting here too.
Hi John. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude: I was just really really in a hurry (as it's usual for me these days).
The thing with forum posts is that we miss a lot of them. That's why we really prefer when people open an issue on github: it might stay there a lot, but it won't get lost. When we have some spare time, we get working on the open issues, not on forum posts
-
(also posted in vessel viewer thread)
In the future please avoid going to the authors for CKAN-related issues. It's our problem, not theirs.
Oh, and please open a ticket for that, someone will take care of it as soon as we have the time.

Uh... Maybe I am blind, but the throttle is divided every 25% (4 intervals, 3 notches + 2 on the borders). What is this 3-parts division you talk about?
-
Yes, and a wider FoV will scan a broader path. Depending also on orbital altitude and inclination, it will affect how rapidly the sensor can scan the planet's surface.
... or if it's even possible at all: this post was made for ISA Mapsat, but the math is still valid.
tl;dr: if you happen to catch a resonance with your satellite, you are never going to map the whole planet.

You can add names into the game as you wish.
Thanks, but I already knew that.
-
Why just Italian? If they do that, they might as well add in Sally, Helen, Roberta, Anousheh, Kalpana, Claudie, Mae, Liu, Chiaki, Wubbo, So-Yeon.. Not that I'm against that, what I am against is campaigning for 'the first woman from a particular country in space' and not for 'first women in space'.
... which would also be a good thing. It just happens that I'm italian, so it's pretty natural for me to care more about Samantha than others.
It would be nice for me if "Samantha" was part of the names pool: I don't want the others to be excluded, I just want this to be included.
It also happens to be a name that doesn't clash with the general american-ish names so far, unlike all the other names of italian astronauts.
How about no? Most of the kerbal names are random. I like to find one with a cool, random name best. The names chosen are random, but many of them are named after astronauts (the ones I recognize the names of anyway) with a spelling difference and some even combine names, so, I suspect that they'll go down that route.I might be wrong, but as far as I know names are procedurally generated composing random syllables.
Jesus, we're saying that they shouldn't put particular names into the array. Not that we should kill all women namesWe just want generic names in the generator
"Samantha" is not a particularly weird name. It's not like I asked the generator to include "Umberto Guidoni" or "Franco Malerba"...

As a reference to Samantha Cristoforetti, the first italian woman in space, currently aboard the ISS.
-
Small feature request: could you please make sure to add "Samantha" to the list of random female names? It would be a little touch for italian fans (our first woman in space, Samantha Cristoforetti, is aboard the ISS as I'm typing this!).

Yes, but RCS is not usually viewed as propulsion system. It is a control system (reaction control system) which can be abused, as shown.
Check out
. Totally a rocket (quite powerful too). -
RCS is still rocket propulsion using hypergolic fuel, so it doesn't count as an answer to OP's question.
But yeah, you can either store air in air intakes or use ions (although we could debate if ion engines are just another kind of rocket).

CKAN seems to not update my mods from KerbalStuff properly. ForScienceContinued for example got a 0.26 version 4 days ago and the newest version on CKAN-meta repo is still 0.25.2. KerbalScienceExchange on the other hand never had a 1.0.1 update but the CKAN-meta repo has a 1.0.1 update listed with a link to CraftHistory.
Something else i have noticed is that the meta files don't grab the right folder to install resulting in conflicts with all of the 3 mods. All 3 mods include the KerboKatzUtilities which has 2 files and one folder. The files get excluded properly but the folder doesn't.
Hey SpaceTiger! I pulled the wrong files for KerbalScienceExchange, they should be rebuilt shortly.
I'm really sorry but I'm super-busy these days: I don't have the time to look into the conflict just now, I'll do that ASAP. If you could open a support ticket on github, that would be the best for us

Instructions unclear.
"Got Jeb stuck in the ceiling capsule".
-
Ah, I stand corrected then. I hadn't looked at it in about that long. It did go for a few versions being out of date though.
Yes, it did: iirc, it was due to the author suddenly switching to a new versioning scheme that was incompatible with the previous, something that computers are not very goot at detecting

Hi there, It seems that no planets are visible after installing it with Ckan.
I was going to reply that it wasn't even on CKAN, but apparently I was wrong.
The metadata was wrongly included, but it was missing the correct dependencies. I have removed it from the index now.
Big apologies to CaptRobau for the problems we caused
-
You'll have to email KS' support for that: we are not actually affiliated with kerbalstuff, although it is our preferred host
- - - Updated - - -
P.S: and remember, please do get in touch for any issue in the future
-
CKAN, I have no idea how to
Eagleshift made the old CKAN config, then he left forever.
If there is an easy guide? Maybe I can do it.
Hey there! While we do in fact have an easy guide, please do open an issue and we'll see to help you out with it
-
Yeah CKAN doesn't work yet. KerbalStuff says it's CKAN-compatible, but it's not. Didn't realize people were trying to install it with that. I'll try to add it after the next update. For now I'm adding a part about it in the OP that says you can't get it from CKAN.
Hey guys, I'm from the CKAN team, and I'm here to clarify this bit.
So, CKAN needs a file to be reviewed and accepted before it can manage a mod.
At this time we don't have a ckan metadata file for this mod, since it depends on other mods that are not in the CKAN (yet!).
However, whenever someone adds a mod to kerbalstuff, kerbalstuff prepares a template metadata file and sets the ckan badge on the page... regardless of the file being accepted or not.
So in reality, there are a lot of mods that have a ckan badge on KS, but have not been accepted into the ckan yet.
We are trying to catch up with all the mod requests, but it will take us some time, especially since right now all the team seems to be busy with real life. We could really use some help by the way
Hope that cleared it out. If you have further questions about CKAN, let us know (preferrably on github).
Cheers!
tl;dr: CaptRobau is not responsible for ckan integration, bother me with that instead.
-
Hey guys, the problem with ADIOS should be fixed now
Let me know if it happens again.
-
I looked at the places it looks, but all it showed was curse.
Could you please post me the steps you are following?
I assure you that most mods are downloaded from kerbalstuff, like FAR, B9, FASA... and mine
CKAN is not a download manager: it cannot automatically manage every new mod that is posted on kerbalstuff or curse, but it needs someone to write a metadata file so that it can be supported first.
-
Hey guys unfortunately KS -> ckan is not automatic, someone from the team needs to review and accept the metadata first. We are doing our best to keep up but lately we are all really tangled with real life...
The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network (CKAN) Package Manager; v1.18.0 [19 June 2016]

Hi, just dropping by to let you know that I'm working on preliminary deb packaging. You can get a deb package from here.
Please note that this package depends on mono-complete >= 3.10, which is not available in Ubuntu. You will need to follow these instructions to have the latest version of mono.
This package will also install a small script that automatically runs ckan through mono.
In the future I hope to move it to a ppa... but first I need to figure out how a ppa works.
