Best star trek episode (as in whole series)
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to Pawelk198604's topic in The Lounge
For me it would be DS9: In the Pale Moonlight Just so dark, ideals vs. survival. The biggest casualty of the Dominion War was the innocence of the Federation. Regards. -
Where does your username come from?
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to ZodiaK's topic in The Lounge
Well I started playing KSP back .18 lost interest in it, but around .22 came back when I found a link to Nyrath's Orion mod. Lost interest again but regained it when Wackjob posted his 'grief and coffee' thread. Somehow something clicked, things that I struggled with before had fermented in the back of my brain. So I was trying to think of name, no luck, when it hit me when I was watching 'Dr. Strangelove' again, nuke bomb engines, my crazy over built designs, the mad cackling at 3am when I OD'd on coffee, and Dr. Strangemember was born/created/spawned. BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA bring me another selection Kerbals....FUR SCIENCE!!!! -
Alot of the contributions that the Poles made are glossed over, the Polish fighter squadrons had better kill ratio than British squadrons overall, the Polish Intelligence had the first success at cracking Enigma etc. Best quote about this, 'King George VI, on visiting a Polish squadron, asked a Polish airman what was the toughest thing he had to deal with in the war. The reply was "King's Regulations...." ' Anyways here is another video for you. Regards.

Nokia Symbian all the way here! Why are you all looking at me like that? Seriously between Android and Iphone, Android every time just for the reason that I can tweak, fold, spindle, mutilate, and kill it to my heart's content. Also I'm bit of iconoclast so that I refuse to join the Cult of Jobs. I'm sorry but the whole Iphone craze just made me run the other way, something about mindless drooling worship turns me off. Now rational admiration for the Iphone makes me admit having the OS and the hardware done in house works in it favour, just the whole culture of 'Genius Bars' and the elite sort snobery implied brings out the counter culture punker in me. Regards. PS A brief moment of silence for Nokia please, now if Nokia had brought their hardware to the Android system...instead they have been devoured by that slobbering tentacled horror, the foulness that lurks the most sanity blasted of the many angled spaces, the endless maw that hungers to devour our minds and souls. The Six Words You Never Say at KSC.
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion

The SILLY SHIP thread!
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to tstehler1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I knew it!! I recognized the designer from his previous work!! You can clear see the influences! Regards. -
The difference is intent. In case 1 the intent is quick and easy transport. In case 2 the intent is to kill a person. Same as if someone buys a gun, then breaks into the home of the victim creeps into the victim's room and shoots him, only to find out the victim died in their sleep 2 hours earlier. The intent, the plan, the action all carried out. Regards.

Been there done it. KSP is a race, not a space race, but a race to which break first, the physics engine or your sanity. :-) Regards.

First Successful Rescue Mission
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to aman608's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Grats on the rescue. Hmm, my first successful rescue was a comedy of errors. 3 person Mun transfer/lander craft crashed when it bounced too hard on landing, so I launched the same vehicle to rescue the crew, I wasn't really paying attention when I made a few quick changes to the craft in the VAB so it launched with a full crew. That crashed due to my attempt to land as close as possible and hit a fuel tank from the first crash and rolled pinning the crew hatch, used RCS to wreck it but free the hatch. Then I rebuilt the damm lander with a hitchhiker can and launched the 2nd rescue attempt with one pilot. Note do not plan rescue missions when angry at one's self at 4am, I was not thinking clearly and made a few bad calls on my maneuver nodes. Result 7 Kerbals stuck in Mun orbit with zero fuel. At 6am or thereabouts made the choice that 3 hours of sleep wouldn't help improve my day so quickly tossed together a refueler mission using my 'Milk Cow' a LKO space station refueler for my tank farm. My tank farm station uses 2.5m docking clamps as does my 'Milk Cow', my Mun transfer/lander didn't. So my next mission was to be a docking adapter to allow the to ships to dock and transfer fuel. Worked like a charm, every one saved. After that mess I fell asleep and woke up with one thought running through my head.... 'why the hell didn't I send up a station core in instead of docking adapter...' Lesson learned, that mouse pads can prevent serious concussion. :-) Regards. -
You know you're a noob in KSP when...
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to Science-Recon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
...When you wonder why your RCS isn't working. Because you didn't hit the 'R' key. So guilty the first few times. ...When your first attempt at station core doesn't make orbit, or even out the atmosphere, so you add more boosters, then more struts, and keep adding and adding... ...When you forget to add reaction wheels and RCS to your 'Project Orion' nuclear pulse craft that has 600+ ton weight and wonder why it maneuvers like a rhino on rollarskates. ...When to launch your 'simple' spaceplane you need 4 SRBs you've really built something wrong. ...When you have your launch clamps, all your asparagus stages and your first stage decouplers on ONE stage...twice... -
Wackjob nice to see you back and posting again. I'd think FAR would run away from that rocket, it'd likely be found hiding under my desk with my video card. :-) Regards.

Ok if it just a flyby then I say no, it would be a PR stunt and when is completed I could the current crop of mouthbreathers in the government patting themselves on the back say 'we dun it, now let's pork barrel defense some more'. If we did a flyby and left a station in orbit there, empty of course, we would have a reason to back then use to continue onwards towards manned landings. The ideal mission is one that keeps political momentum going forward, due to investment to previous capital. If Apollo had used Von Braun's Earth Orbit Rendezvous vessel the Nixon administration would have had a harder time abandoning the existing infrastructure. Just my $0.02 Regards.

First to space: Virgin G vs Copenhagen S
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to xenomorph555's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I'm going with VG, if for no other reason than nose art. Seriously this is the beginning, as in the first passenger craft, as in the 1920 aviation type. Give it a few more years to mature, the first company to make the space version of the DC-3 hasn't happened yet. When that happens is when it'll matter. -
B9 Aerospace interim maintenance pack
Herr Doktor Strangemember replied to Autochton's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Great news. On a somewhat related point, is one the signs you are a KSP addict when you start salivating when one of your favourite packs is being worked on? Regards.
