  1. I found Wesley mildly annoying. However, Wil Wheaton as "himself" on he Big Bang Theory is pure gold...or gold pressed latinum for our Ferengi fans.
  2. And what is x? A basic score of what? 3? 17? Pi squared divided by e^6.4? I assume X is the impact velocity, You may want to go with x * y for the score - because... I can crash something at 20,000m/s with no parts surviving, and score 20,000 But if I crash something at 19998 and one part survives I only score 19,999. I would think that the second one should be higher on the leader board. Of course, I could build a 1,200 cubic strut unit crashed at 70m/s and rack up a score of 84,000.... Sooooooo, maybe your scoring system needs to be modified a bit.
  3. Why not have them deployed to start, then after take off, right click and manually raise them? Or set an action group to only raise the gear. Then everything will be synched up later on.
  4. Currently experiencing the same thing with a 1 man lander can, 1 Z-1K battery, 2 of the 2x3 solar panels, a FL-T200, and a 48-7S. No matter the orientation, it happens. Edit: Now happening even outside the atmosphere. PE down, AP up. Slower than when in the atmo, but AP still rising.
  5. I thought that might have been the case, but it happened at 1x 2x 3x and 4x warp. I had A LOT of orbits to watch it happen.
  6. So, I was heading to Eve in sandbox mode to test some Eve landers/ascent vehicles. I established a 107x107 orbit, then dipped the PE to about 95km, decoupled from my transfer/orbiter stage, and then re-established the 107km orbit with the orbiter. I then switched back to my lander when I noticed something odd: While my craft was in Eve's atmosphere, and above 90km, my apoapsis would increase. Everything was off. In fact my engines hadn't even been activated, so there wasn't any inadvertent burning. Since I was barely scraping the atmosphere, my apoapsis climbed every time I did an aerobrake. It actually climbed from 107km to 112km (might have been 116km). The periapsis would decrease each time, however. Finally once my craft dipped below 90km the AP started to come down, but only for the time the craft was below 90. So as my craft would aerobrake from 97 to 90 the AP would climb, below 90km the AP would decrease, and then the AP would climb again as the craft went from 90 to 97. Eventually the craft stayed below 90km long enough that the AP would finally have a net descent for the orbit. I though it had something to do with the construction of the craft, but after making the descent and ascent it happened again. After rendezvousing with the orbiter stage at an orbit of 115km, I detached the lander can. The lander can consisted of 4 massless batteries, 4 massless solar panels, 2 RCS thrusters, a MechJeb module, and a clamp-o-tron. I burned the rest of the RCS on the unmanned lander can which left the PE above 90km but below 97km, and sure enough the AP would rise while the craft was in that same range. Anyone else experience this? Does it happen at Kerbin, Duna, Jool, or Laythe? Mods installed: Enhanced Navball MechJeb Kerbal Engineer Kerbal Alarm clock Two other parts mods which had NO parts on this craft.
  7. OS and programs all reside on C:\ in both the laptop and desktop. All data (music, pictures, databases, spreadsheets, etc) reside on the NAS.
  8. It shouldn't but the anti-science crowd will say, "well, if there's a margin of error of 10%, why couldn't the error be a million percent? If you're wrong about this, you're wrong about everything." I got into a discussion about my mom about dating with tree rings, and her response was "yes, for THAT tree, but you can't prove that every tree has tree rings unless you test every single one." I gave up.
  9. What is pi to 1 significant digit? What is tau to 1 significant digit? What is 8.23589734123 to 1 significant digit?
  10. Which is where I have a problem. I have no problem with, and can easily follow all the steps from single celled organism through what we see today, though there are some pretty big chasms for me early on - like the complete reversal of biological processes. But going from a gooey sludge to RNA to self contained DNA at this point too big a jump for me to be on board with.
  11. That's the only "problem" with the theory. Not all of them (nor will they) will be found. And with gaps here and there people will point to that as a "failure" of the theory.
  12. I disagree with the assumption in the second article that we are related to everything. It is possible that life did not start from a single replicating protein strand. But may have happened more than once, in separate places on earth. Such a possibility would allow for animals not being related to plants at all.
  13. I never land under power on Duna. Drogue chutes and radial chutes slow my craft down enough that I'm under 12m/s on touchdown. Oh, and use the beefed up landing legs. I also have the radials open at 1000m and 1500m instead of 500m
  14. Nothing says you have to keep the part after the challenge.
  15. Zombies can climb, zombies can't die as they are already undead, relieving them of their need for water. You may want to rethink your plan.
  16. Wait, you spent over 2600 hours real time driving around Kerbin. Jan 24 --> August 11th is 199 days. You spent an average of 13+ hours per day, EVERY DAY, driving your rover?
  17. Yep. Go out on EVA when descending with a parachute at about 5m/s
  18. OK.... I'm in, and here's my two launches....same craft, the only difference is I limited it on the second launch to 11.75m/s² Full Throttle Limited Throttle The only engines used were: Rockomax 24-77 and LV-1R Liquid Fuel Engine Stages were set up to have just over 1TWR at the beginning and no more than 1.59 when almost empty, and that was only on the second to last stage.
  19. What part of stock did you not understand? And dV DOES depend on the engine. Heard of ISP?
  20. I was able to get 9m34s, but then tweaked the rocket, and while burning 100% throttle the entire ascent (other than coasting to AP, I was 11minute range flying it by hand. I used MJ and limited the acceleration to 12m/s and was at 13m47s. I think I will split the leaderboard into 100% throttle, and throttle limited a bit later. There's this thing called outside I have to go experience.
  21. My Utopia: A world where I'm allowed to critique anything I want.
